Nfl
Couple of things I love about American Football that I wish RL could go towards:

1. Every single down matters. There is a basically a winner and a loser every play.
There is way too many "meh" plays in RL. Almost like a gentlemens agreement:

D: "you are going to get 6 or 7 metres but that is all"
A: "ok";

2. The defense is good to watch and is intriguing in itself.

Nfl has flaws. Long stops. And plays that are designed just to milk clock. When a teams up by way 16 and 6 to go and they judt ground poind to wear 35 seconds off each run. It can be frustrating also.Calculated knowing if takes 1.40 off x 3 times it kills game. Etc.
And your 5 yard dump throws for short gain arent anything special. You get games where they are dour. But yes at anytime a play can be designed for a bigmplay.

True but that is where American Football coaches earn their keep. They are heavily involved in the game not just in play calling but with clock management and their use of time outs etc. I find that aspect intriguing.

I find Nfl more exciting. Like a game of chess. But at same time it can get frustrating with stoppages . NRL is better if want to chill and relax while NFL requires more thinking.

Only thing I don't like about American Football is the time slot. Getting up at 4 in the morning is not my bag.

By about rnd 5 or 6 it becomes a 2hr swing.

True and good point. But my real complaint about the time slot is that I like to drink alcohol while watching my favourite sport and I can't do that at 5am in the morning (because I am all out from the night before).

So on average, how long does a game go for including all the stoppages?

If an NRL game kicks off at 3pm, the final whistle is around 4.45pm - give or take 5min (not inc golden point)

Actually they average between 3 and 3 1/4 hours except for the Super Bowl which averages 3 and 3/4 hours

Yep, that seems about the length of entertainment that is needed to get people off their couch and too the ground.

The NRL should get the length of game from 110minutes to at least 130 minutes.

NFL ... 1 hour of game time in 3 to 4 hours

NRL ... 1 hour 20 mins of game time in 2 hours

Debatable. Take out the wrestle and time from start of tackle to when the ball is being fed from dummy half. Really that is all dead time

I read an article where they said there is just over 10 minutes of play in an nfl game

Thats ball in play game time. But if you want to put it that way a cricket test match probably goes for about an hour spread out over 5 days.
There is a lot that goes on between plays. Arguably more than goes on when the ball is in play in a rugby league match.
