Although Ange struggled at the international level with the National men's team.
So, getting our very much below par National team to two World Cups and then winning the ACL is struggling at International level?
Ok then.

What Ange struggled with was the hierarchy of the FFA. He wouldn't tolerate the fools that ran the sport in this country and who refused to support his requirements.
The day they stuck him in front of the media to defend their lack support was the catalyst for him to walk out of the World Cup campaign a short time before it started.
I wonder which of the two parties is having the last laugh now.

He did struggle a bit; however, our football philosophy was more free-flowing under Ange.

Arnold is rigid, and inflexible, and though he seems to be getting results, we're not an attractive team to watch, imo.

We are actually a much more attractive team to watch now than ESFC were under Arnies leadership.
Arnie is doing well at the national level, and I think that he has since taken on a lot of Ange's tactical philosophies.

That's a disappointing take on the last game.
We played the No 4 world ranked team and very well could have beaten them.

I think we played well - much better than I have seen us play for a long time under Arnold.

I think it's plain to see he has adjusted his philosophy a bit, to our benefit.

I wasn't neccessarily bagging Ange, just responding to the comment around the current person, who seems to have done better at the World Cup level than Ange did.

He may not be as good a coach, but you can't argue with better a result.

Don't forget we also won the AFC Asian Cup for the first time under Ange.

Arnold did very well last World Cup - but let's put things into a little perspective:

We beat Tunisia 1-nil, as well as Denmark, 1-nil, while getting belted by France 4-1.

In contrast, some of our losses during Ange's time were to The Netherlands, Spain, and Chile - nations with pure football pedigree, and genuine world-class players.

Winning two games in the Group stages was a phenomenal effort, but this World Cup was missing nations such as Italy, Nigeria, Colombia, and Sweden, so it was a weird Cup to begin with.

I take nothing away from Arnold - he has exceeded my expectations, and has us playing good football, even though I'm not a fan of his.

seriously what does he want the government to do for soccer in Australia
Plenty of junior and amateur facilities have government funding (at all levels) and plenty of stadiums are built to play the sport

What funding is AFL getting that soccer isn't getting?

If Soccer Australia doesn't have a head office then I think that is the associations fault. It is a big game with lots of money. What government paid for the AFL/NRL/ARU head offices?

Kane's presence was holding them back and if he was still there they wouldnt be top of the table right now IMO. I feel Harry believed a lot of his own press and started to believe he had outgrown Spurs. I daresay Ange was quite happy to see the back of him

Exactly.
Ange doesn't want players like Kane, whose contract stated that if he was fit, he must be in the starting team. f**k that wankerism.
I actually think Ange was relieved when Kane walked out the door. It was one less ego that he had to deal with.
Son has filled in a small gap of goal scoring. Spurs certainly need a striker replacement, but Ange will sort that out as well.

I'm actually thinking that in hindsight, Kane is actually resentful that he walked.
Like all Poms, he under-estimated Ange.

hmmmmmm..........

Firstly, Harry has said for a long time he wanted to play elsewhere, but would never play against Tottenham.

Secondly, he played pretty well before he left Spurs (trials) and Ange didn't want one of the best players in the world (his words) to leave and he was not happy to see the back of him.

He said if he wants to go, then go now so his place in the squad could be given to someone else.

That was Ange being diplomatic.
I'm sure he's glad he is gone.
A player with the ego of Kane just wouldn't sit well with Big Ange.

A lot of football players across all codes say things like "I love this club and I can't see myself ever playing against them" and BS hyperbole like that....until their mgmt secure an obscene pay rise somewhere else or a new coach/manager comes in and tells said player they're no longer calling the shots and that it's time to f**k off... I don't know the in's and out's of Kane's departute so that's why I used "IMO" and "daresay" in my post... If Kane loved Spurs so much, and Ange loved him so much and thought he was one of the world's best players (lol) he'd still be there...... IMO

Where are you getting that from ? First I've ever heard that and I've posted on a few Spurs forums for over 20 years

Harry's ankles are pretty f**ked from back when Harry Rednap ran him into the ground. He is a ruthless trainer though, he's been nown to train the day after Euros and World Cups, he just cant seem to get enough sometimes, but this year he was going to be "managed" if he stayed on.

I must have seen about 40 or 50 interviews of Harry over the the years and he's never given that impression, although I could be a bit bias, but I've never heard any other Spurs fans mention that either.

I was pretty much the same as Ange, if he wants to go, then go now while there is still equity there.

I still find it hard to believe that some one would pay over 100 million for a 30 year old with suspect ankles.

And Ange is smart enough to not do that.
Spurs will be fine without Harry Kane.
Ange couldn't care less that he is gone. Seriously.
He just moves forward and has already proven that Spurs can get by without him.
His style of football dictates that any player can score at any time. They need not rely on one striker.

Harry's agent is his brother and Harry tells him what to do, unlike some other player/agents.

Ange tends to tell it like it is, I don't know him that well but he doesn't seem to play games.

Also Daniel Levy is a large majority shareholder and a mony man and no doubt he would have alos felt that at 30, its now or never to sell him, as he was still under contract and it was up to Levey if he went or stayed. He's been fighting off Citihad and Madrid for years when Harry was younger.

sorry but I don't belevie any of that, Ange wants to buy another striker and we did buy a young Argentine striker last TW, but he wants another one

he definitely wants to replace him as he sees Son and Richarlison as wide attacking players not target men or someoe who can play with their back to the goal, again, his words
