No I love the Matildas (when they win). Not because I give a shit about women’s soccer, but because I’m a hardcore nationalist. If I actually cared about women’s soccer I’d follow their club matches. But I don’t, just like nearly everyone else on the Matildas bandwagon.

2 of those teams haven’t had extended periods of losing in living memory.

I’d expect that sort of response (and underlying analysis) from plenty of merkins around here but I’m surprised it’s from you.

The fact is I think their achievements are worth less because they have so little opposition. Much like how the Kangaroos wins mean less than the Wallabies.

You can only play what is front of you with what you have. Ranking achievements across different sports, even different aspects, is just asking for argument

That might hold true for the winner of a given competition, but over time these teams compete in numerous competitions and their achievements stack up.

Some competitions are just more competitive than others. Surely nobody would argue with that.

There are games on 10 and 10 Bold. Sydney derby at Commbank is on Channel 10 tonight/10 Bold tonight.
All games can be streamed on Paramount+
