How good is this ashes series so far? Australia ultra competitive. Everyone chipping in to which is exactly what we need.
Warner and Starc, who we all love to bash, excellent in this test so far.
Uzzy and Smith both getting centuries.
Head, putting the pressure back on the bowlers by pushing the pace.
Carey has been fantastic with the gloves, Green a weapon in the field.
Cummins has been sublime.
Great series.

The bloody umpire for this 2nd test at Lords I liken to some of our bunker guys. I am so angry that the brilliant catch made by Starc to dismiss Duckett was overturned by the umpire because of the "Rules" which are explained in the following:

Starc had full control of the catch, there was no doubt. I mean he caught the ball in the deep, held it for at least 2 seconds, fell onto his knees and then his hand which held the ball ran along the ground momentarily - but Starc had control. What about some fielders catching screamers and once they catch the ball they throw it in the air and the guy is given out? Did the catcher have full control? Starc's catch was more controlled than the toss after the catch in my opinion.

We have a good chance to win on the last day. Duckett I am hoping will be dismissed fair and square by Starc. Stokes and Bairstow will be buggers to remove so bring on the short balls guys and bounce the hell out of the Poms.

Agreed on all points.

I watched that catch live. If Erasmus doesn't think it was a fair catch, he really should retire or the ICC tap him on the shoulder before his legacy as a great umpire be irreparably damaged.

Great win boys. Very frustrating though and field placements to me not in keeping with how test cricket should be but with bazball, that's a different story. Good dig from Stokes - who I am glad got out eventually having been dropped twice on 114. So heros are the Aussies and villains the members of the MCC in the Long Room.

Go you Aussies at Headingly.

Indeed another well deserved win against the the old foe and at Lords ! But gentlemen, what about the behavior of those in the members stand as the Aussies came out for the final stanza .

Absolutely disgraceful ! They truly need to balance the scales when comparing Starc’s catch against Bairds dismissal.

Starc’s catch was caught in flight and held . How many fielders have you seen take a similar catch and then throw the ball away before hitting the turf ?

Bairds dismissal will teach the beggar that the rules of the game are there to be observed - whinging , whining poms ! 😡

On a lighter note , well done to the entire team and in particular Nathan Lyon , who has always shown the heart of a true warrior .

The member's behaviour was disgraceful. Good on Uzi for calling them out and for his comments post-match.

I must admit that, at the time, I thought Starc's catch was OK. However, what's the difference between what he did and a player taking a catch and then stepping on the boundary rope? The latter is a 6. They did explain the rule-must have control of the ball and body. Starc used the ball to steady himself and it clearly touches the ground, so I think it was the correct decision based on how the rule is worded, even though it bloody-well looked out!!!.

Bairstow was out, no question about it. Indeed, he tried the same thing in the Aussie first innings:

The difference was he missed and Carey hit. Essentially, the English are trying to crucify Carey because he was more successful.

Agreed regarding Lyon.

So Stokes said that, in the same situation, he would withdraw the appeal? So, you would do that in an Ashes test but not against NZ?

They are very bad losers , always have been .The pitches have been ‘ doctored ‘ to their benefit - as all home teams usually do , however they expected to come out as winners , not losers .

As said - bad sportsmanship on their part . Of course the Aussies now have the dregs of the English media dragging our good name in the gutter , unbelievable !

Crikeys , the umpires , the pommy team and supporters all after the blood of these sons of Australia .

It's not going to bother them at all. All matches in Australia are torrid affairs, whether you are playing park cricket, grade cricket, or state cricket. By the time you get into the test team, you've been abused, targetted, and called every name under the sun. Walk in the park for these lads.

Rulz are da rulz, one all.

What I find funny re the rules is when a six is hit and if you are clever, you can still catch it. Looks great but it's a bloody six.

The biggest outrages come from the rules not usually followed. How funny would it be if Cummins Mankad's Root in the third test?

I'm surprised that this careless dismissal like Bairstow has taken this long to occur. Many a test player lets the ball go to the keeper than marches off to tap the wicket down out of his crease. Warner, Marnus ,Smith all do it at times, unfortunately for Johnny he got caught out doing it.

Your right about that Danny , however what truly disgusted me was the behavior of the so called MMC members , I expected a higher standard from them , but alas not to be .

How's everyone feeling?

This ashes series has been the best one since 05 in my opinion.

Watching the Poms score at over 5 an over for their entire first innings is a sight to behold.
Their new approach to test cricket is great for the longevity of the format and other teams will start playing like this in the future too I reckon.

I've never witnessed an English Side playing a more aggressive and enterprising brand of cricket than the Aussies until now, so it certainly is a first for me.

If the 5th match is a decider then buckle up, what a series.
