Cmon mate, look at the athleticism of Stokes catch. S. Waugh catch was a beauty because he navigated past the screen but thats all.
B. Stokes catch all day over S.Waugh.

You’ve dismissed two essential elements of Waugh’s catch: 1. he had to turn around and run quite a distance and 2. besides the sightscreen, Waugh also had to contend with teammate, Merv Hughes.

Anyway, it’s all moot. After re-evaluating things, Greg Matthews caught-and-bowled off New Zealand’s John Wright in 1985 remains the best catch I’ve seen.

I did say outfield catch.
A caught and bowled is a different category.
And BTW don't let nostalgia get in the way of judging the best catches of all time. That catch from Stokes is pretty special.

Crush that was the best catch I have ever seen.
If you want to see one that is very close.
Look up John Dyson one at the SCG.

The John Dyson catch is a cracker.
The difference with the Stokes catch is it was a slog sweep that was traveling flat and hard, he had no time to line it up. And the angle he caught it makes it best ever outfield catch for me.

They are both top notch.
People will fancy Stokes due to the acrobatics, which is fine, but Dyson's is up there...
If I had to choose, I would go with Stokes... only just..

Many many years ago I used to ride my bike to Hurstville Oval to watch Warren Saunders, Billy Watson, Brian Booth then Norm O'Neill bat 1-4 for St.George.
I was too young to realize at the time what a great club team they were.
I just attempted to upload the team of the century but too large to do so on my phone over here in England.
