OT - CRICKET

From this series the English are playing a brand of cricket like what you would expect from the Australians, while the Australians are playing conservatively similar to what you expect from the Poms.
Cummings field placings will earn him a knighthood if the Poms can snatch the series after being 2 nil down.

It's not often I want rain to interfere with a test match, but the pommies and their insufferable "holier than thou" attitude this series makes me really want the English weather to cost them the Ashes. I'm not proud of it, but that is how I feel.
Here, here OED. The Poms' arrogance gets me and I am praying that this 4th test ends in a rain affected draw and we retain the Ashes at this point and win the series 3-1 when we beat them at The Oval in the 5th and final test.

A fact the Poms overlook is that they have had the best of the batting conditions throughout this series and have failed to take the full advantage, that declaration in the first test was just dumb, throw in winning every toss,Cummins being a novice as a captain, Lyon getting hurt and favourable DRS decisions what more do they want to help them win.If the shoe was on the other foot they would be cheering the rain on.

Match abandoned. Aussies retain the ashes
Yahoo! I'm glad we retained the Ashes. I know it wan't the best way to have achieved it, but I'll take it because when most of the better things have been handed to the Poms in most of the tests to date, we overcame them with some luck given by nature.

If Stokes declared say an hour and a bit more before Anderson was out in their first innings, then they would have the better weather to get quick wickets through Woods, Woakes and Broad in our second innings.

Go the Aussies in the last test at The Oval.

Pommies really sooking and whinging about the total tragedy of a washed out test match. Enjoy listening to the hypocrisy coming out of their mouths. England retained the Ashes in 2013 due to a washed out game where England were in deep trouble. But no, that was fine - being saved by the rain was perfectly acceptable then. Now the same serial morons, with the shoe on the other foot, are decrying the injustice and unfairness of it all! Give me a break!

Lol at the Pomms and their whining

They won every toss so have had control of all tests.

Despite all their hype about their batting and bowling Stokes had the opportunity to declare several times when just passing our 1st innings totals but he decided to not do that so his lack of faith has cost him big time.

Some of these whingeing poms should just sit back and think before they make a public comment.
Root wants games to start earlier and play to 10pm for a result, blah, blah blah.Next he will be complaining about the volume of cricket and fatigue, exploitation of the players etc.The current guide lines are the same for every team, so just show some class and accept not every thing goes your way in life at times.

Better still they should play all their games in the UAE and then they could get some much needed Vitamin D which would make them stop feeling so miserable due to the English drizzle.

I agree, it's all blah, blah, blah. If this and if that happens then we the Poms win all of the time is what bloody Root would like to say. He needs a big Root that's what he needs.

I have heard that test cricket in England has to start at 11.00am because to start the game at say 10.30am would mean fans needing to catch the train or public transport to the grounds they have to pay a higher fare if they catch transport earlier. What stupidity.

The current guidelines have been in place for as long as I can remember. After the start (over there 11.00am, here 10.30am), there are three sessions of 2 hours with a lunch break of 40 minutes and a tea break of 20 minutes making the full day of 7 hours. Starting the game as Root suggests at 10.00am and ending at 10.00pm would mean what? First session (3 hours) from 10.00am to 1.00pm, lunch 1.00pm to 2.00pm, Second session 2.00pm to 5.00pm (3 hours), tea 5.00pm to 5.30pm, Third session (with white ball) 2 hours from 5.30pm to 7.30pm, supper 7.30pm to 8.00pm, Fourth session (with white ball) 2 hours from 8.00pm to 10.00pm. Yeah right hahahaha.

I was astounded when Root suggested that ! I wonder if he would be of the same opinion if the situation had been reversed ? 🤔

I notice that all of the wacky ideas suggested by the poms would and should only be applied if it would be to their advantage.
Same old pommies - always whinging!

Why don't they pull their heads in? Changing things only to suit themselves. If it was the other way around, we would not hear boo from the bleeding whinging Poms.
