Don't jump or I'll shoot!

Is the USA Schrodinger's country? Fundamentally broken whilst at the same time too big to fail?
Well nothing like that happened if u watch the video .... it would seem they were after him for something, he threatened to jump off a small bridge, she calmly tries to talk him into not jumping, he lowers himself down, supposedly pulled a knife, then run away, got tasered, fights with another cop trying to cuff him, ran away again, then she shot him claiming she thought she had her taser not her gun

I still can't get over how workers overthere don't have minimum wage. And are heavily reliant on us tourists especially in the hospitality tipping them.
They have minimum wage, it is just different in every state (and obviously much lower than here).

Although, the 'minimum wage' in tipping jobs seems to be heavily ignored to.

I have recently been watching some videos on YouTube about some of the shitty areas over there. There are now entire towns of just complete shitsville.

This guy Nick Johnson goes around visiting a lot of them.

There is an area of Philadelphia (Kensington) that I've seen pictures of war zones that look in better condition. Honestly, before I seen these videos of this place I really didn't think it was possible for a first world country to be like this.

Apparently LA is just one big tent city now.

I also read a report that they have a lot of illegal immigrants now crossing the border into Texas, not neccessarily Mexicans, but more Central and South America. They're also coming into Florida. Apparently New York state says they're happy to have migrants, so Texas puts them straight on a bus to NYC

Florida sticks them on planes

Apparently NY is looking at booking out cruise ships to house them all. (They better not take over my ship I'm on in January!)

In many states where tipping is involved, there is no minimum wage.

No, sorry it's not actually no minimum, it just might as well be.

Google says Federal minimum for tipped employees is currently 2.13/hour.

Yeah, it's like a retainer.

Having said that, no one is enforcing the non-payment of a minimum wage to people (mostly non-citizens) working on most farms in Australia, nor are they enforcing any minimum wage requirements for any 'commission' only jobs here either. Has anyone also seen the number of intern jobs in places like the media industries? Their not being paid, but no one seems to enforce any minimum wage requirements in those instances either.

Easy to shitbag the US and I'm sure it makes people feel good but Aus is far from perfect in many ways.

Yeah no where's perfect, but there's so much shit going on in the US that it's really beginning to look like a fail state.

Unfortunately the old 'rona isn't the only thing that's contagious, they're mighty good at exporting their problems.

Agree. They have 12x the population to try and control.
We are just using all the immigrants from 3rd world countries to prop us up. At some point we'll have to stop that along with our coal.
Then what?

If you didn’t catch Noel Pearson last night presenting his case for indigenous recognition in the constitution, then I recommend it. Iview link or transcript is below.

There are many who don’t want to hear about it, however they rarely expand on their reasons for a no vote. One person thinks it all about critical race theory, which really is an extension of the stubborn Howard era and his refusal to say sorry.

Absolutely.

However:

* we had a mass shooting, so the government banned guns

* our government pumps millions of dollars into healthcare every year

* our government doesn't mandate that having abortions is illegal, often at the cost of one (sometimes, two) lives

* students in Australia can generally point out Australia on a map

Australia has its issues, but the USA is a joke country.
