There is larger indigenous representation in parliament and across government levels than many other minority groups. The assertion they haven’t, or don’t currently, have a voice is rubbish.
That's already answered ^^^^ above. The point is that whatever "voice" is present now, is not guaranteed to be heard, does not necessarily open any doors and may not even be there in the future if the pre-selection cards don't fall the right way.

They are party members bound by party policy, or individual MPs, who represent the whole of their constituencies. Further, Indigenous representation in the parliament is not guaranteed – it will rise and fall depending on party selection, and election results.

I went to NZ in February & i compared the Air NZ and Qantas prices who had one way flights to wellington on the same day about 15 mins apart from each other in the morning. Qantas was 8:15am & Air NZ was 8:30am.

When i booked in october last year Air NZ was $420 and Qantas was $801.

Like seriously what idiot would choose Qantas over Air NZ when comparing those prices.
Yet Qantas made eleventy billion profit, so many people do fly with them.

A person in my circle is in travel. I said to her "when are airfares likely to start coming down ?"

She said when people stop complaining about prices, then 30 seconds later hit ...

And what guarantee is in place to ensure the people elected to represent the “voice” (which we have no detail on btw..) will aptly represent the indigenous community en masse and not act in self-interest? Which is what has happened with past grants/programs/funding that was earmarked to improve many issues facing the indigenous community?

If they don’t have power to veto or amend government decisions, then they are simply a mouthpiece no different to what current exists with members of parliament who champion indigenous issues, so it’s a superfluous exercise.

if anyone really thinks the govt is being 100% upfront with all the details, you should consider pulling your head out of the sand.

If the handling of the covid pandemic taught us one thing, it’s that government self interest comes well before the well-being and best interests of the population.

the referendum should be postponed and reworked with both sides of government contributing to a unilateral policy or constitutional amendment. Only then will it have a chance to succeed

I still cant believe the leech that Joyce is got a 24-million bonus payout.
And that was after doing a dodgy deal with Albo to block Emirates from giving us access to more routes and a more competitive marketplace.

when the ACCC finds Qantas guilty of knowingly selling thousands of seats on flights they had no intention whatsoever of allowing to take off - Joyce should be criminally charged and locked up

No it isn't. They produce heaps of rubbish. You want to see some of the garbage tools available at bunnings or electrical products like Arlec.
I'd say majority of their stuff that isn't an overseas company y set up their is garbage including cars and dirt bikes.
Some of their products like an ANKO cup or ceramic bowl from K mart is ok quality. But how do you f**k that up?

What exactly are you ever purchasing? Straw hats?

well firstly, what makes you think all tools from Bunnings are made in China ?

The quality of manufacture is determined by the people importing/specifying the products, so you may be barking up the wrong tree there as the manufacturer does not determine the specification of the product, they act under instructions from the purchaser/designer.

We tried India for years and their quality is very poor and generally, they ask for more money before the job is completed.

I design certain metal and high temperature plastic mechanical components and have the prototypes made in China by various companies and I find their engineering and quality, not to mention their service, excellent.

And you want to compare that to a f**king ceramic bowl ? lol

I agree he should be criminally charged and locked up.

Though with all his cash i am sure he will be able to afford a decent enough lawyer that will get either him off or a softish fine.

The proposed change the referendum is that a Voice will exist to provide advice to the government of the day. How it is implemented is up to the government of the day.

Like the houses of parliament - having them enshrined in the constitution means they can't be removed without a referendum - though they can be changed. For example the number of members in the House of Representatives can change without a referendum (as do the boundaries of the areas that they represent). Similarly the method used to elect MPs and senators is not in the constitution and can be changed by parliament (e.g. Malcolm Turnbull oversaw changes to the senate voting process). The constitution does specify the ratio between lower house and senate representatives and that each state has the same number of senators

the referendum should be postponed and reworked with both sides of government contributing to a unilateral policy or constitutional amendment. Only then will it have a chance to succeed
The constitutionally enshrined voice concept was raised in 2017 with a constitutional committee selected by Malcolm Turnbull and Bill Shorten - so it has been around for 5+ years with bi-partisan support

Don’t think who the people want as president matters. It’s predetermined long before people go to the polls. Trump was the outlier..

the people who are moving the chess pieces around the US and global economy could tell you who’ll be running the joint in 2040 with near perfect accuracy

2 muppets I wouldn’t feed if they were begging on the streets
so it has been around for 5+ years with bi-partisan support
yet no longer has, and many ALP disagree with it but are hamstrung. What’s changed?
How it is implemented is up to the government of the day.
And that’s the problem. Why should we vote for a constitutional change this is basically open slather to be manipulated and manufactured in any way the presiding government see’s fit. If you want to change the constitution, fine, but it should lock in exactly what the voice looks like, how it’s elected, who it represents and how it operates from day 1 to in 100 years time. There should be grey whatsoever

The proposed amendment is that there exists a Voice to give advice to parliament on matters relating to Indigenous Australians

It can be changed in terms of who sits on the Voice, how those people are selected and what matters they bring up - however, it cannot change that it can only advise on matters relating to Indigenous Australians and that it has to exist

similarly the constitution says that there should be a lower house and senate and outlines what things those houses of parliament do at a high level - however, doesn't describe:
- how many MPs and senators there need to be (there are minimums and ratios)
- what ministries there need to be
- how MPs are voted e.g. compulsory preferential voting is not in the constitution

What extra details in the proposal would you like before you are willing to vote "yes"?

Alexa AI Predicts 2024 Elections To Be Suspended, Establishment of One-Part Democrat Dictatorship

Yes and No

Alexa tells me that according to Odds Checker Joe Biden has a 19% chance of winning the election while Donald Trump and Ron De Santis are 2nd and 3rd favourites at approx 14% chance

Must be some error with my device as I am sure that Alex Jones and random videos on internet would not lie

What does this mean ? The voice will be a 24 person advisory committee. What other details do you think exist ?

Very interesting.

Dude

As Chris Gleason reporting for the Gateway Pundit reported "A bombshell investigation has uncovered jaw-dropping connections between Fani Willis and a sprawling web of election fraud and money laundering activities.

The Gateway Pundit (TGP) is an American far-right fake news website. The website is known for publishing falsehoods, hoaxes, and conspiracy theories.

Malcolm Turnbull facilitated the original Voice concept - but never put it to a referendum because he thought the LNP party room would do exactly what they have been doing for the past year

Any current LNP parliamentarian who wants to public support the voice has to step down from any senior role

I wonder what the percentage is of people flying who actually pay for the flight from their own pocket?
