Curious doesn't her having a job in Parliament give her a voice?
She has a voice. As one of the Senators in the NT. But (particularly as a conservative) she isn't a voice for Indigenous people in general...

There are even questions tonight as to whether Jacinta Price can continue being shadow minister for Indigenous affairs given she campaigned on a position that the overwhelming majority of First Nations people opposed.

Because the blubbering pussy has wasted everyone’s time and money as well as the efforts made by Indigenous Australia over many years.
Absolute failure of a man.
This. It was his Government that went to the polls with this wording and proposal. It has been overwhelmingly defeated which means there was a monumental f**k up somewhere along the line. This rushed f**k up has set back any way forward from a constitutional perspective a considerable amount of time. They needed to get this right and they botched it up. He should be held accountable.

In my opinion, using the “voice” as “recognition” under the constitution was the largest mistake. They are two separate things and the fact they were lumped together has ruined any chance of being recognised within that document. I truly thing it would have got up if they were two distinct proposals.

I'm glad you posted - I've been searching for a post you made in the last day or two about that which I didn't get the chance to acknowledge and reply.

I very much agree that under the circumstances (Dutton's change of stance after the Aston by-election earlier this year), there would have been a better way of handling it to build support and ensure success. An I think Albo did explicitly say that he would try to implement the Statement from the Heart (which called for Constitutional recognition and the Voice through referendum).

I've been critical in here of the Yes campaign focus on "meaningful conversations" rather than clear basic sharp educational ads, cutting through the nonsense. But it seems the Yes campaign had that locked in as their desired strategy from a very early date - and if there was bipartisan support (as there had at one point seemed like there would be) then it might have paid off.

Agree, that is what it seemed that Albo did - adhering to the wishes (Voice) of those Indigenous representatives involved in the statement. And yes, those people aren't political operators etc.

Dutton will try to cash in and play a simplistic blame Albo game for his own attempted political benefit, but his (Dutton's) approval rating has dipped at the same time the support for the No case increased... so I suspect Dutton won't be the one taking over from Albo as the next PM.
Cheers mate, agree with all this. Especially that Dutton turd trying to claim a Political victory. f**k his eyes.

I agree. Well, recognition would have got up as a separate referendum, but I suspect the Voice would have had to come later on/separately to be voted in via referendum.

So the f**k up was listening to the Indigenous representatives and doing things in the way it seems (through the Statement from the Heart) that they had wanted and suggested.

Well she has more opportunity to make a change for first nation people than some Sudo voice the government was putting forward..

Well let's see what she's got.

She was a Councillor for six years (and previously Mayor) of Alice Springs, and it's become even more of a crime-ridden shit hole.

So I don't think she's got much she's bringing to the table other than just saying... No.

Yep, that’s what I would have done regardless of the recommendations from the Uluṟu statement and explained that it is the best chance of getting what they want as an end goal. Although I also would have instigated a voice through legislation and provided evidence of its effectiveness and value before going to that referendum down the track.

Back to Trump @hindy111, I think he’s made some self serving remarks that Israel is absolutely furious about.

He’s criticised both Biden and Netanyahu but as I understand it, not necessarily for the ongoing Gaza obliteration.

I think he would be looking for a major Biden failure and an argument that has a mass appeal for his American constituents.

The hostage situation remains a serious issue. If the Hamas start broadcasting their unjustified execution, that could push Israel quite a bit further.

Enter the role of big tech and what, if anything, they can do to resolve the issues.

This might be a time where a stateless powerful google or whatever is a good thing.

Everyone else seems to be too far gone, except the UN of which we are a member state last time I checked.

As I said previously who is behind all this??? China I feel are waiting for the 2024 USA election result. Pending on which way it goes then they'll make their move.

Ran out of onions at our school's democracy bbq today.... But the school in the next suburb decided to charge $1 extra for onion - outrageous!

Scored a free Jim Beam hat at the local bottle-o, when I stopped by to purchase some alcohol to get me through the referendum results later tonight!

#redneckwonderland

Sounds like you got analed by a sliced onion

It was a weird combo like a Big Mac and a coffee or pineapple on pizza.

Why don't they just go establish the committee and not have it in the constitution (whatever that is). Why do I feel like if I google aboriginal advisory committee I will find there are already 10 such groups in existence?
