100% disagree here Albo wasted tax payers money on this referendum he needs to take a big part of the failure on his shoulders.
Nonsense. Loads of Referendums have been taken and lost over the history of Australian government. Just putting something (a change in the Constitution) to the people to see if they want and agree to it at this time is not a waste - you can't achieve formal recognition in the Constitution without it.

Howard was PM in 1999 when he put the republic Referrendum to the people and it was also a No. Didn't impact that prick's career.
Dutton will probably score some points now and use it as ammo going forward..
Agree Dutton will try and use it as ammo... but he will be surprised (disappointed) when he fails. As stated in analysis on the TV, the Teal seats are all strongly Yes - and those are the seats Dutton needs to win back for the LNP to get back to government.

They show how each school voted?
You can find the results at each booth (school) for any election (including previous elections), once counts are final.

Mine knowledge is from a photo taken by a scrutineer and posted in the town's facebook group, but the figues will appear on the AEC website in the next day or two.

Nonsense 😂 the last referendum was 24 years a go you dolt. You can't even compare it to the republic vote.

It shouldn't have any impact on his political career. He made a promise to act (run a referendum) on the question of recognition and a voice, as put forward by the Uluru Message from the Heart - admittedly at a time when the Libs had been supportive of the notion and process.

That changed, and Dutton say what he thought was a chance to score political points from opposing. The people voted, and the result is theirs (ours) not Albo's. He was not head of the voice campaign - nor should he have been. Albo was true to his promise.

And Dutton will be surprised (disappointed) that this referendum result has no bearing on any party politics bounce for him in the polls when it comes to government elections.
Did he explicitly state when and how that promise would be implemented? I’ve already posted how I think it should have been handled to have the best chance of success.

I’m quite sure the members involved in the Uluṟu Statement are not political advisors. Blindly following the operationalisation of recognition (and the voice) the way they requested, which is what you suggested earlier, was political suicide and probably the decision that will likely see him as a one term PM.

I'm glad you posted - I've been searching for a post you made in the last day or two about that which I didn't get the chance to acknowledge and reply.

I very much agree that under the circumstances (Dutton's change of stance after the Aston by-election earlier this year), there would have been a better way of handling it to build support and ensure success. An I think Albo did explicitly say that he would try to implement the Statement from the Heart (which called for Constitutional recognition and the Voice through referendum).

I've been critical in here of the Yes campaign focus on "meaningful conversations" rather than clear basic sharp educational ads, cutting through the nonsense. But it seems the Yes campaign had that locked in as their desired strategy from a very early date - and if there was bipartisan support (as there had at one point seemed like there would be) then it might have paid off.

Agree, that is what it seemed that Albo did - adhering to the wishes (Voice) of those Indigenous representatives involved in the statement. And yes, those people aren't political operators etc.

Dutton will try to cash in and play a simplistic blame Albo game for his own attempted political benefit, but his (Dutton's) approval rating has dipped at the same time the support for the No case increased... so I suspect Dutton won't be the one taking over from Albo as the next PM.
