A merkin who knows more than me txt me this.

Let's see if the LNP of Queenslanders (16 seats) switch allegiance to sit in the Nationals party room (9 seats) to become the official opposition instead of the Liberals (18 seats).
I believe that for the LNP some members sit with the Nats and some with the Liberals. I am guessing that they can change though that might make them some enemies

It’s going to be a long road back.

Watched a Tony Abbot interview on Triggernometry last night. It was from Jan 2025 just after Trump was inaugurated.

Couldn’t believe how quickly everything he said has now become dated and out of touch.

Not surprising really.
Abbott has been out of touch for years tbh.

I was proud of my voting kids in the Fed election.
They both knew about the issues. Not influenced by me at all. Both young 20's.
Climate change was their biggest concern which is real and they get it.
The Libs/Nat's weren't even on their radar. Neither were the Greens because they could see through them as well as over the top nutjobs.

I think Abbott sensed a sugar hit after Trump but was sadly mistaken.

Your kids sound very sensible.

No doubt about Abbott.
As for my kids...... surprisingly and impressively so.
It's not just them, but them and their friends.
They all discuss politics more than I ever expected. I love that. They didn't need any advice from me. And they get it.

I think there's still a lot of hard rights among and in backroom control of the Libs as a party... that don't share much ground with the Teals on climate?

I'm sensing a possible split of the Libs where the conservative right wingers (like f**king Jacinta Price) pair up with Pauline and Family First etc, kind of like Cory Bernardi tried to do a while back? And the few moderate Libs remaining might look to try and find some friends in the middle... but would the Teals even have anything to do with them?

IIRC most of the Teals are Libs who lost preselection
Teals are basically homeless Liberal wets
I read somewhere lately ( maybe even here ) the average Liberal Party member is a 70yo White Male.

These are the folk that do pre-selection.

Talking of Teals (and 70 yo white males), the counting is STILL going on in Bradfield. The teal lady leads the Lib lady by 59 votes.

There will be a full recount before a winner is declared.

If the Libs lose Bradfield, it means that they have lost the entire Northshore, from the Bridge to Ryde to Hornsby to Palm beach to the Teals.

I know a guy. No names. Featured very heavily in Lib factions along the trainline up Pymble way, that controlled the entire Blue seas of the North Shore. He used to lunch with PMs current and former. May still do. I watch him closely on Twitter now. He and his bitter crew have not changed their misogynist, dinosaur ways. His antiquated views are the same. He is now a Trumper. The 2025 Libs are far too soft for these guys and they want the country run by merkins with the views of this guy.

For perspective, Bradfield was held by the Libs on 71% 2pp in 2016. That is the very definition of blue ribbon.

He flew a plane load of SA white farmers in to rescue them from persecution. The SA prime minister said it was fake news. Trump amped up and gave him a "...some people are saying.." speech. Bozo.
