It is an interesting point, though. One could argue that Bellamy's success hinders on Smith, Slater & Cronk being in the team. Take them out (particularly Smith) & their record is anything but impressive. Having said that, Bellamy did bring them into the side before they were the stars they are today. One could argue the same point about Bennett and Lockyer.
Back to the topic on hand - Daniel Anderson. He took a team, that most of us on here at the time believed would be lucky to avoid the wooden spoon, to the GF.
Really????? Pretty sure he was handed the worst squad in the NRL last season :? This season's squad is better but still lacking a fair bit to make a genuine title threat. It is an interesting point, though. That alone speaks volumes about his ability to coach. Then, throw in the suggestion (no one knows whether or not it is fact) that he was not wanted by the new administration - & that they were not going out of their way to help him - & that further suggests the bloke really knew what he was doing.
Kearney, on the other hand, has had everything handed to him on a silver platter by the club and, 18 months later, we are still waiting for some consistent results.

what exactly did Kearney have handed to him on a silver platter ?
Our players are rubbish.
They had made the finals in three of the four years before he arrived at the club. They were far from wooden spoon material.
No, but you are...
a first grade coaching jobwhat exactly did Kearney have handed to him on a silver platter ?
.......when its obvious he isn't/wasnt qualified.

As I see it, firstly, a reputation he had not earned, which led to our major sponsor instigating the stabbing in the back of the previous coach to give Kearney a job he clearly did not have the experience to do. Reportedly, a very large pay cheque with contract clauses in his favour. Increased funding into junior programs and gym facilities. And full control over recruitment and retention of the NRL squad no questions asked (it would appear).
All in all, not bad for a guy he never coached first grade in his life. Name one other rookie coach in NRL history who had the road cleared for him as much as this nuffy. 18 months down the track and the excuses keep coming. Face it. We will NEVER win a premiership with this bloke at the helm. In fact, I doubt very much if we will ever even make the top 8. If you want to go on blindly supporting him, then thats your business but dont tell me he hasnt been given advantages others did not get.

So he's demanded the club finally be run professionally and you think that's a bad thing?
If Kearney hadn't come along and forced the board to make these changes, the Parramatta Eels would still be run like a f**king NSW Cup club.
