Yeah, Winston would never be involved with National eh LOLOLOLOLOL
It's politics we all have biases but omg you have serious blinkers that you seem ignorant of too
Can you not come up with one intelligent reply to anything I have said JJ?

I'm well aware of Winston's history - 1996 election. NZF in C&S etc.
The thing is you were 100% making up the dialogue Labour would give up anything for power and "National told the old bugger to get stuffed"
YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHO IT UNFOLDED and to pretend otherwise is pretty f**cking dumb.
The ONLY leak of negotiations came the National Party to the NBR - ask yourself why that was. (I'll give you a clue - It was so National could drive the narrative they were losing with their head held high).

Does Winstons speech align with the National view of how things should be governed YES OR NO?

I haven't hidden my bias at all - the last 3 terms have driven equality, increased social deprivation, increased youth suicide, DHB's at a breaking point amongst a whole bunch of other issues. Yes things may be good for those who have already got there but it is BLEAK for those without.

IMO NZ is going to be far better served with a smart, modern, compassionate PM.
Compassion being the key word - something that has been sadly lacking in government for a while.

Oh yeah - he's a Muldoon junkie, no mistake - not the Think Big - rather the Socialist control everything stuff, hence he likes Ardern and Labour were simply more desperate than National (sorry Juju but anyone that thinks any different is pretty f**king dumb - National simply weren't going to give this much to him - I am sure the you and the "rent a crowd" today disagrees)

We know Muldoon nearly (or did) ruin the country - but I am happy to accept he thought what he was doing was for the right reasons - but they are all attention hogging narcissists - Jacinda and Winston (and Key) are astounding in that respect - that's why I am an English fan - not a big noter at all, competent, hard working

There's a lot of good talk - hopefully it works well - The Auckland petrol tax is a disgrace though

What I don't get is Muldoon nearly or did bugger our economy by fixing the dollar and Winston seems to want to do it again.

How many votes did Winston get in his electorate?
And he has this much power?
Go figure.

Old fashioned FFP thinking

Winston being a kingmaker was a failure of the Right for not having strong coalition partners.

And did you see National MP for Northland posting stuff to his Facebook page clearly demonstrating he doesn't understand how the electoral system in NZ works?
Should we be concerned someone so dumb won a electorate? Go figure.

FFS - NZ First voters did not vote for this Govt - I am not saying they voted for a National led one - what we have is Winston playing the system for everything it can offer him... nobody else

And, Winston is a Muldoon disciple, no mistake - that is scary - as is his arrogance

Still, we're all looking forward to the new pipeline, the new trains, trams, and the prosperity and happiness that Jacinda has promised - diametrically opposed to the doom and gloom Winston is predicting (which is the logical outcome of his Muldoon approach)

Your hardly making sense now JJ. NZF campaign slogan was "Had Enough" - Winston accused National of leaking his super details to the media in a play at eating into the NZF party vote. If that wasn't enough to get right leaning NZF who wanted a National Government to vote National what is.

Where has Arden promised prosperity?

You're embarrassing yourself.

The left is so touchy, any contrary view and you are immediately labelled misogynist, racist, stupid, ill-informed, biased and insensitive. Haughty pseudo-intellectual statements are the go to - must be wonderful to KNOW what's best for everyone. After the last election the puerile nonsense about the stupidity of the public was ridiculous - and now, the whole "the country voted for change" story is funny. We have a legitimate government, but it is one of Peters' making, not the voters - and it remains the case that 45% of the population voted for one party - like it or not that remains a real problem for this government

Ardern is John Key in a skirt with lipstick - no more substance, no less - you love her, you ridicule him, hilarious. They are both populist, spout what the people want to hear, and relatable to many (both show compassion - each can do the concerned, sad eye look, or put on vacuous smiles for selfies... - to paraphrase an Ardern-isn "I absolutely reject the notion that they are terribly different as public figures"

So looking forward to socialism curing child poverty - like it has everywhere else... oh wait...

This thread seems to have outlived its purpose now anyway, so time to flush the dunny as it were

Weak JJ - I laid out factual statement's to you in every post above. Facts you don't like, can't come back on & you call me "f**cking dumb".

44.4% of the people who voted (not the population) - voted National . 1152075 votes
43.2% of the people who voted - voted Labour/Greens. 1186627 votes.
It's not the first time the party/block who got more of the popular vote ended up in opposition, It's not the first time even with MMP.

The exact same shit you are accusing the left of your are demonstrating in this thread. You carry on like you've already been a finance minister & know how to run the country better. (You post on a Warriors forum)

So so sick of muppets spouting "can't wait for child poverty to be cured overnight" when of course there is no magic wand - but at least having a government willing to acknowledge NZ's ugly truths is a start.

Barnaby Joyce or should we say Baaaaaaa-rnaby just got kicked out of parliament.

I’d say any plans from Jacinta to visit Aussie might be on hold to the byelection is held or Julie Bishop and her might end up in the octagon/squared circle/boxing ring.

How to stop child poverty is easy, stop poor people having children.
Free birth control, free vasectomies, tubal ligation.
Pay those addicted to drug to sterilise themselves.
Licenses to have children?
These things (children) are dangerous and can kill people, like guns, cars etc you need a licence for. :)

Don’t think this will be the approach? :)

I know Matt King, he's a dickhead.

I voted Winston.

Lost his seat but he'll be in charge within 18 months.

Can't see Cindy cutting the mustard. ..

Stop poor people having children? Good lordy fellas. So "poor" people cannot make good parents?

Let's kill this thread.

On averages most probably make better parents than extremely rich parents.
But Jacinda was looking to stop childhood poverty.

Compassion being the key word - something that has been sadly lacking in government for a while.

Compassion comes at a price which has proven to be unaffordable.

Lot of hard work went into the country by all Kiwis. .. she'll do her best to undo it.

Because selling state houses and housing people in motels is solid /affordable social policy right?

Nice bit of scaremongering rhetoric but is your view grounded in any sort of factual evidence the country will go bankrupt if we have a more compassionate government?
