So, Jacinda eh?

Snubs Ihumatao (according to some)

KiwiBuild bombs

Sexual Assault allegations.

She's not having a great month.

She is still safe, though maybe not from her own party.
National don't have a credible leader.
Jacinda is doing a good job on the international stage.
Economy slowing is not going to help her nor is Ihumatao, if she gives way.
NZ First is very quiet.

Yeah, she is probably safe unless opinion polls plummet- and this sexual assault thing could take it that way #metoo. National don't have a credible, likeable leader at present or on the horizon (that I can see), but nobody is going to stand for sexual assault, if proven.

I think she’s done a pretty good job on Ihumatao but that’s a bit of a no-win situation. She’s pretty much tried to stay out of it and encourage iwi to sort it, if she got in and forced anything one side would accuse her of trampling on their rights and acting like a colonialist.
The sexual assault thing is awkward but provided there’s no smoking gun that shows she knew about it and tried to suppress it it isn’t that huge, it’s as much Bridges and Bennett playing their usual dirty politics. But it’s big if it’s shown she knew and protected the accused.
Kiwibuild... well that’s been a problem for the government for a while. But that’s not news.

KiwiBuild should be the biggest scandal. Labour campaigned on getting it done and failed miserably. National were lampooned for their 'mansplaining' ad, but it was 100% correct in its content.

I agree on Ihumatao being a no-win- one of those awkward political situations that every government faces.

Agree Kiwibuild is the biggest fail. Problem for National is they’re not really in any position to attack Labour on it because they sat on their hands and let the housing crisis develop for years (and actually probably regarded skyrocketing housing prices as a good thing)

So, what is worse- to sit on your hands, or to promise you were going to do something and then not deliver?

Personally, I don't think Labour should be let off so lightly because of Ardern's delightful personality.

It’s not just housing though... their rhetoric is just embarrassing, all smoke and mirrors

So over politics lol

The point is both are bad and if you do one it kinda means you’re not really in much of a position to criticise the other.
“You said you’d mow that lawn that I never bothered mowing and your mower broke down!” Sounds pretty pissweak.

True, just as well for her she’s got Simon Bridges and Paula Bennett on the other side I guess, who are about as appealing as dogshit

My only political leaning is hating the Greens

I hear their latest policy is trying to get the voting age down to 16 lol, probably so they can bribe all the young one with legal weed

I hate the Greens too- and I'm probably a little left leaning

This govt is totally incompetent tbh worst I can remember... theyre not actually trying anything just talking about it and pretending to... and quickly Labour have become smug and arrogant you’d think they could hide that for longer

As for leanings I’m socially left, fiscally right and have environmental concerns, dislike the Greens, dislike Peters, profoundly disappointed by Labour and slightly less disappointed by National...

Bit of a bind lol
