There are a lot of interested parties looking at buying the Wanderers. Let's just see what happens. As for new money coming in for an upgrade that's great but we really need alot more to take the stadium to at least 30,000 capacity.

And there's no need to be racist Maroubra! The moderators on this forum seem to let alot go!

That's not racist. Didn't you ever watch Kingswood Country?

Leave the money on the fridge Mediterranean Descendant.

lol @ Maroubra.

Anyway, another update on increase in capacity.

Western Sydney Wanderers hopeful of greater capacity at Parramatta Stadium by next A-League season

THE WANDERERS are hopeful of playing in front of an increased capacity next season, with the club increasingly optimistic that extra seating will be installed at Parramatta Stadium in time for next season.

Chairman Lyall Gorman last night said an increase of up to 3500 new seats was “more likely than not” which would lift the stadium’s capacity to more than 24,000.

Under the advanced plans, a structure would be constructed at the end currently used as a family area to house the extra seating, with a more permanent solution still to be sought in the longer term.
Venues NSW, which has ultimate control of the stadium, has appointed a project manager to oversee the hoped-for installation and Gorman said the prospect of it happening “is a lot further forward than it was a week ago”.

“We had another meeting today and there’s a hugely can-do attitude from all parties, and it’s about trying to find the best solution for all of us,” Gorman said.

“We’ll have another meeting in a fortnight, but as things stand there’s a determination to try to do this if we possibly can.”

Gorman said no decision will be made on when to implement a cap on memberships until then, with the final figure dependent on what the stadium’s capacity will be.

Already the club has sold more than 15,000 memberships for next season, with a further spurt expected as the start of the season on October 11 gets closer.

“Either way though it [the cap] will be around 80% of capacity, as we want to leave enough tickets available for new supporters to experience the atmosphere, plus meet our obligations in terms of away fans and corporate partners,” he said.

More seats behind the goals (temporary or otherwise) can only be a good thing for the soccer fans and Wanderers faithful.

Well done, wish our club could employ their membership and operations staff....

I'll happily take your word for it, as I haven't paid much attention.

Not hard to be better than the latest in our post-Fitzy CEO merry-go-round?

Clearly, you haven't been to an NRL game lately. It's full of Mediterranean Descendants. Just ask Mario and Avenger.

Too many Croats not Mediterranean Descendants. ;-)

By the way I love it that The World Game is helping the Eels have a better stadium. Long overdue. Despite some things I don't like about the Wanderers they are unquestionably a phenomenon.

Did you attend a game last season? If not, I suggest you do as early as possible this season. That's if you like football at all. Otherwise, don't bother.
If you do, just compare it to an Eels game. Chalk and.....

lol. As an aside, I checked into your previous claims with a few people, and they are valid. I stand corrected mate.

Too right. What were the Eels doing reducing capacity over the years, instead of trying to increase it?
Oh, that's right. We get more revenue out of those f**king advertisng hoardings that block the view of the video screen. Fair dinkum that mentality is geniused.

Graham Annesley has resigned from parliament today. Hope that doesn't impact on the $47.50 being spent on the stadium.

It hasn't. In fact, the news is better!

Push for Parramatta Stadium precinct ahead of new venue

A further $9 million has been provided for the upgrade of Parramatta Stadium. Fairfax Media can reveal the state government will provide a $6 million grant, while Parramatta City Council has pledged $3 million.
The total committed is now $29 million after the federal government allocated $20 million last month towards a refurbishment for the home of the Parramatta Eels and Western Sydney Wanderers.
''It will increase the capacity with the addition of 4000 seats to the north and south end of the terraces and improve player facilities which are about 28 years old,'' Parramatta MP Geoff Lee said. ''It will also result in an extension to the training field to the full size.''
The funding announcement is timely news for the Eels, who will collect consecutive wooden spoons. There will be another positive off-field announcement soon with confirmation of Fantastic Furniture as the club's new major sponsor.

The state government has signalled a policy towards stadium consolidation, with the options of building a new stadium in western Sydney or upgrading an existing venue. Lee is pushing for the latter in the hope of transforming Parramatta Stadium into a 35,000-seat facility and community precinct.
''I will advocate for a whole part of the precinct to be devoted to a community sports hub,'' he said. ''We want the precinct to be built so during game day the area doesn't stop. Instead of building a new stadium somewhere else, why not locate one where people want to go.''
The Eels have shifted their round 25 match against the Dragons from ANZ Stadium to Parramatta Stadium, considering the likelihood of a small turnout at the larger venue. The Monday night fixture is their last home game of the season.
''This week is member-appreciation round at the Eels, and this venue change will let our Eels members and fans enjoy the last home game of the season in the place where they feel most at home,'' interim chief Matt Phelan said. ''This has been a tough season, and the support of our Eels members has been incredible, so we hope to see a good turn out by the Blue and Gold Army as we say thank you for that.''

BTW, the only time at the moment you'll see the stadium that full is when the Wanderers play there. Up to 15200 season tickets now. Getting closer to the cut off.

What is the cut-off Suity? How far short of stadium capacity are they stopping selling season tickets?

80% of capacity. They don't know yet what that figure will be as they are still waiting to see if the extra 4000 seats will be installed, which will of course raise the figure. The original cut off figure was around 16000.
