The Raiders were much improved compared to last week but as everyone else has said in other words, we were dog shit. The game was always there to win and it felt at least to me that Canberra were playing to protect their slender lead rather than win in the second half.

You're right.
There wasn't much attacking footy from them.
Their defence did well to keep them in front for so long though. We came so close to scoring on about 6 occasions but just couldn't finish them off.

We weren't that bad, after all the shit Canberra got during the week they were going to turn up to play. It was our execution not effort that hurt us tonight, 5 drop balls while attacking their line in the first half and 5 disallowed tries in the second half. Credit also has to go to Canberra's desperate defence.

Let's not forget the other side to get flogged by 50 last week defeated the storm tonight.

Watch the press conference, nothing major happened but gee Ricky looks stressed and he ended the press conference.

Yes, as I said earlier in this thread...I thought the Raiders would go close.

One thing I'll say in our favour is that at least this year we seem to be winning our share of the 50/50 games....even if it hasn't been pretty.

I don't think Canberra played to protect their lead, they played the same way to get the lead. They got an opportunist try and another due to our poor defence rather than brilliant attack. We simply didn't give them any opportunites after they hit 10 points

Canberra whole game didn't have anyone to lead them around properly, no creativity. Both sides defended like demons in most parts, though we got over the line what 4 or 5 times? Game of inches, another day we convert those and win by 30

Dear Ricky,

It has come to my attention that you were unable to coach your team to beat a side who played worse than a under-6's team.

Lol - sucks to be you, merkin.

Enjoy your spoon, arsehole.

Sincerely,

Everyone at the Eels

They were the better team.
Still lost.

Bahahahahahahaha!!! :D

The sad sad sad thing is that they really weren't even the better team.....

We played like total crap (umpteen dropped balls on simple hitups), but never really looked like losing (until about the 71st minute, then I got a mite nervous) - the whole game an Eels victory seemed completely inevitable. And the Raiders knew it - as soon as we scored, they cracked and gave up a soft second (and almost a soft third to Morgan)

After their disallowed obstruction try - they did not threaten once for the next 60 minutes or so. I would also say we totally dominated the second half. We amazingly couldn't come up with points, but we were all over them. The fact we had 15 tries disallowed proves that.

At the end of the press conference Ricky was very upset.
He was very sensitive and the way he ended the conference demonstrated a disposition towards being a control freak.
Maybe he has anger management issues.
Does Ricky kick chairs like that naughty number 6 from the Dogs or does he do a Des Hasler on doors?

The guy is a fu***n as**ole. The way he walked off closing the interview and telling Brett White to come with him. He is a total control freak. How someone hasnt done a Jason Taylor on the jerk is beyond belief. I bet the players absolutely hate him. I know I definitely do.

My first post in this thread.

I like many others in this thread and many others like it was pissed off with the way RS bailed on the club and I'm also of the opinion that he is not a very good coach to begin with imo. Yet back in the early days when RS was starting out at the Raiders and then went on to win a Premiership, I had an accident that changed my live forever.

RS went out of his way along with the whole Raiders team to make me feel better (also a good mention to the Broncos because they were there). A certain star from Parra, one of my idols at the time and I still love him had better things to do (can't blame him) so what I'm saying is, RS is a shit coach and many people have been rubbed up the wrong way, but to me, he was a very normal down to Earth good guy and I'll always respect him for that.

(Btw, I would love that signed 1989 Raiders/Broncos ball in a nice case that I was supposed to get if a certain local councilor is out there reading this thread 25 years later :x )

Outside of what I said above from my only time involved with him 25 years ago, as for coaching and people skills on a day to day basis over his coaching career from the Doggies President cup side?, I have no idea how he still has a job outside the ESL.

St George have not beaten Canberra in Canberra for 14 years.

Methinks that Ricky will get to add another record to his trophy cabinet this week.
