I dont want to sign them but if SBW suddenly lobbed back in aust and announced that he wanted to play for the eels, we would be all over it. Esp when he was scoring tries all over the place.
As footy fans we can have such fickle memories - as witnessed when Lyon announced that he wanted to come back to parra. Suddenly a portion of the supporters forgave and applauded the move.

We can take the higher moral ground only so far.

remember tim smith never did anything against the law! he only did what every other young man does, get pissed, get stupid! but he was in the limelight and the media just batted him down by digging every detail of nights out he has had.

Who cares if he didn't do anything illegal? He was told by the club that employed him to pull his head in and stop drinking and what does the fool do? Go and get pissed, to the point where senior administrative staff had to go pick him up.

No. Absolutely not. No way - as good as those guys may be I would never sell my soul like that for the sake of a Premiership.

I wouldn't take Lyon back. But Tim Smith is a different story. He left because he felt like he needed to sort himself out. The best place was playing footy in the ESL. Lyon claimed he was homesick and wanted out of footy. Different story completely.

I hope if he is being looked at that he has paid via a scale system on the basic salary.

i.e. he gets $50K (is that the basic) and is reviewed every game by a panel of people.

10 being the best:

1-4 - $500
5-6 - $2000
7-10 - $5200

So if he performs at a level 7 or above each game and say 26 games a year, he could earn $185K a year.

But I do remember him citing that him being away from his family (isn't he from the Gold Coast?) was making him homesick so he went there for a bit to sort himself out. And then he ended up in England.
