It will be nice not to have to make massive changes to our spine again. Two years running supercoach failing to make the right call on the spine to start the season has set us back.

Would of been interesting to see Cleary & TMM without the off-field issues & with a little more time together.

Because you cant give TMM a run and give him enough responsibility to continue his development without taking the ball out of Moylans and to a lesser extent Clearys hands and that just wasn't what was best for our side. Further to that when has two halves as young as Cleary TMM worked? You have to have a really quality well coached side around two young halves. We also added to the difficulty of this move by trying to implement the new fast and flat attacking structure with no variation to it at all. And again we added to the difficult of it for the young halves by chopping our centres and wingers each week for the first part of the comp which meant no combinations were developed etc...they should of been training all offseason with the same centres defending outside them, instead we changed it week to week for no apparent reason and had some of the most suspect edge defence I have seen.

Moylan stopped playing 5/8th in 2012. Since then had a trial and a game for NSW. So it would still of been 2 inexperienced halves.

With TMM we had Moylan's 2-3 try assists a game still to fallback on. Edwards wasn't an option so it would of been Hiku or DWZ neither would of given that.

Moylan was at 4 nations. So didn't start pre season until Jan. So he couldn't of been trained up as a half either.

All options at fullback... and no reason any of them at 1 with Moylan at 6 is inferior to 1. Moylan and 6. Cartwright.

They might have shortcomings... especially Hiku and Hardaker. But so did Moylan at fullback and Carty at 6. The difference is we would have actually been debeloping a long term halces pairing last year if Moylan was moved.

Not stunting the development of Moylan as a half, Cartwright as a secomd rower and creating instability with Cleary in the halves.

TMM should have been developed as our bench utility. Which is what he will revert to in 2018 when Thurston returns.

Hardaker came mid season.
Hiku was injured mid season.
DWZ would of been a option should of we had our centres injured and Mansour and Moylan playing for NSW.
As for Edwards I suggest you watch NYC highlights to see how much he has improved since last year. He wasn't anywhere near FG standard.

Moylan missed the 1st 6 weeks. In that time TMM had debuted and should of kept his spot. By the time Moylan had form he was playing for NSW and we lost so much experience. That is hardly perfect time to further disrupt the team. Cartwright clearly trained well at 6. We were winning games so hardly a time to move a player that had missed so much training

If we didn't have Moylan then I'd be happy as Larry to build around those halves, we would struggle for another year or two most likely but there is a lot of potential there.

Regardless of what happened last year I didn't mind trying Martin but it restricted Moylan way to much, Disrupted the team and once he was gone it should have been Moylan not Carty.

It's all academic anyway - franklin got what he wanted last season and the start of this, and we won nothing and started like crap. Now we have the positional selections a lot of us wanted to see, so now we wait. If we still win nothing.... well...
