As funny or scary as that sounds - it is actually an improvement.

Still, nothing is as funny as the battery ram.

I have laughed out loud about five times today thinking of that.

it kind of detracted from the overall thrust of the rant I thought.

 And what a crazy rant it was too.

I don't put myself into any category mate. I just say it as I see it. But I don't think it's fair for someone to label others as having "agendas" simply they don't agree with your opinion. Hence my comment.

no, i wasn't saying you were in the same category.....i just meant that you seemed to also agree (with me) that Boxy had been in the same category that he was spouting on about - RE: this squad being good enough to be in the 8 - hence making his fickle talk (from Boxy) suggesting other people have agendas about that subject, even more hypocritical....

and i agree, i also see it as an unfair comment to claim that people have agendas just because they hav an opinion about the team and/or its performances?!?

on a side note though i do think that anytime play stops the clock should stop. 80 mins of play should be just that, not 80 mins broken up by refs giving really bad scrum lessons.

Totally. It would also make the games longer which would even allow the head sheds to sell more advertising on tv.

I won't label Boxy out, that's not really fair either he seems a decent kid.

But yeah it just seems somewhat hypocritical of those who got excited about last year's signings, for example Carl Webb losing weight and being extra motivated and a change of scene, and the ESL rejects adding much needed experience, all of a sudden turning around and saying we've performed poorly because of terrible recruitment.

And then there's those who said in the off season they were excited with our side for this year as it could be a top 8 side, but then when we're sitting at the bottom of the table they say "we have the worst roster in the comp so it's excusable".

So I do agree with you on that yes.

take 2012, SK wants to (assumedly) continue with this plodding, stingy, tight, no mistakes, solid Melbourne-type style of football

There's your problem right there.

Melbourne don't play a plodding style. They play high tempo, and Slater, Cronk and Smith are free to play what's in front of them.

Also, Sandow is more a runner than a passer (like Hayne) and those type of playmakers make a lot less errors than the pure ball-players.

It has been tried once before and was canned as quick as it was implemented as games were going for over 100 mintes at times. Player burnout was the reason given for its demise. Can't remember what year it was, but it happened.

From the point that games drag forever if there's too many stoppages then fair enough. The player burnout thing though doesn't come about so much from too many games I think (if it did then surely a decent coach would rotate their squad better). It comes from over training. Again, a better coach would be adjusting their training regimes once they know the season draw and have set their team goals. Recovery is just as big a factor in high level performance as training right.

The bloke is learning on the job

Yes he has done some stupid experiments like the Billy Rogers, playing with 16 men and co but as I mentioned in my opening line, he is learning on the job.

This is what scares and disappoints me the most.

Why does the coach have to learn on the job? Why did we not employ a coach that had experience in managing a team for an entire season instead of 6 weeks in a World Cup or Tri/Four Nations Campaign or could manage an interchange bench?

Sure the guy can man manage and our boys are loving the environment, and that show during game time that they are "putting in" still isn't helping where it counts at the moment.

Has anyone asked Kearney this question? Why has he employed this bench rotation system.

He's not learning the job...he's learning about what players to keep, get rid of, can handle the type of game he wants to see played & have stepped up already (or not).

i will tell you what your main problem is. So listen up and listen up good. Pride!!!!

The players that wear the parra jersey have no pride in it and all they care about is the $$$. Different case for the broncos you have to earn your jersey with hard work and once you put it on you represent your fans and your people and you put out 100 % every game.

u take me too literally sometiems, but no, Melbourne are not exactly a plodding team, and yes they do play up-tempo - at times, but not always.....we seem to play plodding, limit the mistakes and low-tempo (if i can use that term lol) pretty much all the time under SK. I also said he is playing a Melbourne-style of game, not Melbourne totally....otherwise we would look to play up-tempo at some point surely?!

and if Hayne, Sandow and Roberts are all more runners of the ball (rather than true ball-players as your suggesting) - then who is going to direct the ship and actually do all the passing?? obviously i'm being a bit sarcastic, but you know what i mean, who then is going to do the organising/passing in the team on a consistent basis that will fit in with the tight, no mistakes style of play?? I mean someone has to pass the ball to those 3 guys right? Lucky we have steady Matt K then eh? ;-)

i think Sandow and Hayne would still be the best passing playmakers in the team......
