f**kin nice

Another big body up front is just what we need for next year and his age will mean he will be around for quite a while. A 4 year deal is pretty long too

Superb signing. I read we were trying to lure Knight junior Mitch Garbett back from the Storm too but were un able too. Damn shame! Really rated Garbett.

I think getting out of his comfort zone will clear up his attitude, the only thing you really have to worry about is his ongoing injuries. If those come good he's a fantastic signing, if not he can still offer some size and aggression, but it will be frustrating watching him knowing he can offer so much more.

Providing Wayne can sort him out off the field (Im sure he will), Russell could go great for you guys. He does have a bad track record of injuries though, so that could be an issue.

Eitherway, an inform Packer is a good thing for NZ rugby league.

So I'm going to be the third person to say this, but it bears repeating- attitude issues aside, by all accounts leg injuries are what's holding Packer back. This is all a bit murky but a few posters on the Warriors forum have suggested that his injuries are of a permanent, unusual nature and will always restrict him somewhat. It certainly explains the way he plays when compared to the bulldozer that he was in NYC.

Just a warning, hope your docs gave him the full medical before he signed.

Happy with this, looking forward to seeing him and Snowy doing some damage.

Given all the issues HSG had with their A-League signings I'm sure they'll be giving any signing the full workover.

Good signing. He and Snowy will be driving us forward for the next 2 years at least.

I am sure with the rugby league grapevine being what it is, the Knight would have been well aware of his issues well before they even started to speak with him.

I'm sure that they would have done their due diligence.

4 yrs is a long contract, I suspect its not massive money and Packer wanted 4 yrs to get settled.

110 games at 23 means he can't be too injury prone.

Good signing, hope he goes well for us. If only we had him and Snowy against the roosters...

Excellent signing. Wayne will polish him into a diamond. Has all the potential and is one mean f**king hombre.

It's not that sort of injury. He had (still has?) compartment syndrome which can cause the muscles to seize during games. A lot of those 110 games would be 15-30 minute max stints.

If its that syndrome then it can be resolved easily. Its caused by muscles growing too quickly.

IIRC both Tahu and Mullo had the same issues at a young age.

I assume he's tried the various therapies and surgeries available for said condition?

That is hardly an irreparable condition.

Surgery to fix this condition is a fairly simply process. It takes about 6 - 8 weeks per leg to get over. If this is his only problem....we should be cheering cause he'll be a massive pick up

I'm sure he'll recover, but if not, Wayne might really be pissing into the wind trying to get the best out of that Rusty Pecker.
