I thought we played well tonight.

They played better.

Exactly. The Eels played a great game tonight.

The pulling down of individual players on this forum tonight, (in my opinion) is nothing short of childish & embarrassing.

The game was of the highest standard. These players are humans not robots.

It was a wonderful game of footy.

Sometimes the bounce of the ball doesn't work for you. The Parramatta try when Edwards was wrongfooted case in point,

The loss won't hurt us at all. I believe it will do us good. It also helps makes the competition more exciting.

It's also obvious this weeks preparations were quite disrupted with Ivan being ill and injured and also Ciro getting covid.

It's called playing footy in 2022.

Well done Eels. A good win. Penrith hopefully will come back bigger and stronger next weekend.

I refuse to sulk and sook, blaming this player or that. A referee decision or indeed the bounce of the ball.

I wish everyone a great weekend.

The refs tonight
The biggest reason we had 45% was 80% of naths shit bombs landed in between the 20 and 30m line instead of the try line and the 10m line..

It was solely on him..

With how punishing we were in defence.... he he lands even half the shit bombs 25m further back possesion swings to about 55% us. If he gets most right like he does when at his best thzn possesion wouldve been bout 60% us

I haven't been that impressed with anyone not named Edwards or Yeo this year.
So it has been the case all year

You aren't going to win against good teams with 45% and under 80% completion.

Throw in the halves playing terrible and there is a few things.

Throw in what we learn from next weeks game and plenty of things to tweek in our game
So what are you going to change that we haven't already discussed? Play for reset sets in the 20m and...?

It is hard to say without knowing the game plan but neither half getting a try assist was telling.

You do miss things at the game but it seemed like we weren't setting up for anything. Just working to edges

Then putting up a high kick in the hope they drop it.

That is not going to get the job done.

That is the reason I was looking forward to this period. To see what the side has and if we develop better.
Dont need to be a genius to work out the game plan doesnt involve patience.

Doesnt involve "risking" (even tho nath and luai we league leaders in 2020) putting grubbers in for set restarts..

Tonight waa coming for a while. People have been so overly comfident on here but in resloty we havent faced much of a challenge and have been playing just ok getting the two points

Defintley not doom and gloom. Just a reality check.

Kiks gets injured and they score through his channel when he's down in back play. Edwards lets one shallow kick bounce and it sits up in their breadbasket for a free run to the line. The bunker reimagines the penalty try rule. Miss some conversions and there's the game. Sometimes shit happens, and every so often it happens all at once.

Mixing the kicks up.
Don't get pinned in a corner on the last.
Are we the only team not to do those outside/inside plays?

look at highlights last year. Almost all our tries went Yeo/Cleary/Luai I can't remember seeing it this year.

Defence is good
Line speed good
Longer kicking game
Kick returns are good

So we are about 80% there. Just need to work on stuff with the ball.

Nathan should do himself a favour and spend the week watching cam smith at his best for the storm and the maroons..

He could roll it in for 4 or 5 sets in a row for 6 again and still not feel any pressure to score...

Just slowly grind teams down. He knew it would take its toll.

Right now nath and the boys seem frustrated if the dont score by play 4 ffs.

Calm down, slow down. Our attack is lethal but you cant skip getting into the grind with the good teams.

You have to wear them down before pulling the tricks out.

That’s what
Also nathan deadset has put away the grubber in goal for 6 again. We did it once the other week and scored first time.

Parra were gassed. All nathan had to do was buikd pressure and get 6 agains from grubbers and they wouldnt of been able to hold out.

Intead the mindset is to score of every play.

Nathan was probably 65% tonight. If he was up near 90% we win.

The rest did what they had to.

People want to blame dylan for not getting to a bomb that he was a probably 3 in 10 chance of getting to safely... for a try.

Quick to forget he made one the best one on one try savers ive ever seen in the first half.

Had absolutley no right to stop that try. No other fb saves that.

Yeo, fish, had uncharecteritic error.

But as i said, nathan is the reason we lost.

Poor decision making and kicking game was deadset pathetic.

Ive i see another midfiekd bomb lamd on the 30 again.. ill give up. If you cant get it right just put it inti a corner on the try line ffs.

With how much we drive them back every time they wouldnt get out of their 20m but they were allowed to start from 30 out half the night
pressure, does!!

I predicted the start to year. Given where other teams were a good start was always on

I left out this middle bit of the year because we relied on defence to much last year. As teams improve we will need to offer more.

I think we get enough points for Top finish. Hopefully the side develops enough to go deep in the competition

How you doin?
Went down swinging and bashing Parra til the end. All I can ask for from the boys. The highest quality defeat this season. If every team near full strength is going to put themselves through that level of brutality to do it I have no complaints.

Shout out to Kikau's hit on Papali'i were he went down and put his shoulder into the his sternum. One of the most brutal hits I've seen in awhile now. It's not the hits where they go flying that hurt. That means they only caught some of the force. It's the ones where they take all of it that really hurt.

So much this. I really don't understand why they refuse to build pressure. It can't be coaching right? Ivan has been in the game long enough to know what that kind of ruthlessness does to your opposition.

It was a strange game though. I always felt we were on top physically and in control of the game except for a 10 min period. And then we lost.

We are definitely an edge backrower short in the squad.

And if we don’t adequately replace Kori we won’t be near as dominate. He was superb again tonight.

Well said although people have to keep in mind that this was an only loss in nine games. If we average that out for the rest of the year, we are MPs.

We can absorb a loss like this, reset, and prepare ourselves up to the SOO period were we will again be making adjustments. And after SOO, we start our assault on the home trek towards the finals.

If there is a fault in this side in which they really should look at, and I was fearful V Broncos is having an inexperienced and undersized player in Tago in such an integral position as centre. Against Melbourne, he will have a nightmare of a night on his side of the field.

But anyway, the home record is done, and we can now dust ourselves off and prepare for hopefully what will be the match of the year.

Thing is, if Cleary makes an extra conversion, the game would have gone into golden point. 2 points separated two very good teams in an incredible contest in which we have to give credit for Paara really turning up.

It only irks me no end if we lose to a poor team way down the ladder who we should have hammered. That is when your team has real problems.
