Panthers vs Cowboys

Regardless of the opposition. There's no guarantee we win any game. Nor does resting players mean we lose. All that changes by resting players is our chances of winning and it's not necessarily by a huge amount... And sometimes the change might benefit us too.

Let's assume our odds drop say 10% by resting players. No way it changes by that much but let's say it did. We just need to ask ourselves is being 10% less likely to win worth it to rest key players?

Looking at the ladder... IMO it absolutely is. We don't want to throw away 2 points. Ever. But we are in a position where we can afford to drop a game or two and still be sitting pretty in the top 4.

If we lost players for the season though... That could end up costing us big time. We put ourselves in a good position to think longterm now. Finals are nearly certain and top 4 is a good chance. Teams around us are losing guys left and right to longterm injuries and our odds improve everytime they do.

Panthers Late Mail: The Panthers have Nathan Cleary (ankle), Liam Martin (shoulder) and Tyrone May (elbow) all in some doubt after suffering minor injuries in the Sharks game. Cleary will be right to play but both Martin and May will need to pass fitness tests, with either Mitch Kenny or Matt Burton on standby for May, and Lindsay Smith on standby for Martin. Dean Whare will also need to prove his fitness as he looks to recover from a toe injury, which would see Brent Naden move to centre and Malakai Watene-Zelezniak coming onto the wing if Whare is ruled out.
Two un-named Panthers players were tested for COVID-19 on Thursday and will need to be cleared to play.

We can put a 5 point gap back to 4th with a win. This would mean that we would have too lose 3 more matches than both Canberra and the Raiders to miss the top 4. This would be very unlikely, making a win on Sunday very important!

I get the feeling that if we keep winning, secure a top four spot toward the end of the season, we may see some players get rotated around prior to the finals series.

Id prefer we focus on going into the finals prepared than winning the minor premiership.
