I've repped Tyran Smith for doing it but Denzal Tonise deserves as much credit, if not more given he is playing in the pack, for stepping up at hooker for the 20s after playing two rounds in the SG Ball at lock.

The SG Ball are missing him as well with their ruck defence lacking the linespeed and sting he brought to the table.

Finally we are off with a kick from Davis.

The Warriors open the game with some strong charges and get into Parra's half with a tackle to spare. They send up a wayward bomb that Davis races up to take but as it swirls to the sideline he pulls out. The Warriors attempt to bat it back but it travels forwards straight to Davis.

Simple set for the Eels in return as Dockar-Clay completes it with a shallow grubber that is cleaned up in the field of play by the Warriors.

Soft linebreak there from their #11, he cuts back from right to left down the Eels left edge and he simply strolls through some lazy defence.

The Eels scramble and bring him down and recover the ball on the next tackle, good fortune there for sure.

The first penalty of the game piggby backs Parra down the field. Shoulder charge was the infringement.

Bit of ball play at the line for the Eels via Dockar-Clay and then Tom Amone. Warriors defend well but then concede a penalty late in the tackle count for a hand on the ball.

Lovely bit of play there from French! Takes the ball down the left double pumps then steps, spins and powers to the line!

First blood for the Eels.

Tepu-Smith takes the first run of the set, Miski then Amone are used next.

A solid carry from Fuimaono puts us over halfway and Twal surges onto the ball for a good run to bring up the last.

Dockar-Clay finds the winger again with the short kick. Good set after points, ZDC just needs to tune his kicks slightly.

Davis brings the ball back to his 40m line after the kick from the Warriors. Parra ruck it up the middle before going to their left with Clay. He uses Tepu-Smith out wide but he is taken in a good tackle. That brings up the last and French goes down the left-edge short side, rolling the ball in goals but it it too heavy and is watched over the line by the fullback.

The Warriors hit back in the following set as their #6 slices through down our left, didn't catch who was stood up there by the left foot step. The 5/8 links up with his backrower who crosses for the home team's first try. A bit too easy there.

The conversion is successful.

NZ lead Parra 6-4.

11min gone.

Error from the Warriors now, pushing the offload. Amone is sent into the defence by Clay. Davis sweeps down the left beating the initial attempt by the defenders before eventually succumbing. Tonise and Clay both try to run the ball but are repelled to bring up the last. French comes down the right for the kick but he too has his kick picked off on the full.

Parra then concede a penalty. Warriors on the attack.

Erin Clarke is just pulled down there! Good tackle by French I think. The Warriors lose their poise on the last but somehow come up with a line drop out as their winger gets a kick into the in-goals.
