Citizen search begins
26 Oct, 2011 01:00 AM
WHAT do a Cabramatta High school principal, Parramatta Eels Toyota Cup winger and a youth advocate that supports humanitarian causes have in common? They were all Fairfield City Australia Day Award winners.
Beth Godwin (Citizen of the Year), Jacob Gagan (Sports Achiever of the Year) and Tarsha Gavin (Young Citizen of the Year) won the 2011 categories for their service to the community.
Now the search is on for the 2012 winners.
Nominations close on Monday, October 31 for this year's Australia Day awards from Fairfield City Council.
Categories in the annual awards include Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year (aged 14-25 on January 26, 2012) and City Sports Achiever of the Year.
Fairfield mayor Nick Lalich urged members of the community to nominate outstanding residents for the awards.
"We have so many outstanding members of our community and it is important we acknowledge their great work," he said.
"If you know someone who is making a strong contribution to the local community, whether it is through volunteering, helping keep the environment clean or inspiring others through their community work, I encourage you to consider nominating them."
Nomination forms are available at fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au and close on Monday, October 31.
Nominees must live, work, volunteer or study in Fairfield City.

Mitchell Brasington - Halfback from Magpies SG Ball
William Bugden - Northern Thunderbolts/Country Under 18's
Diamond Charlie (not Charlie Diamond as listed) from Bulldogs SG Ball.
Jordan Hall - Canterbury Bulldogs
Rodney Moefaauo - back to the Eels from Sharks and still only 19 with two seasons in and out of their NYC side.
