As long as they keep looking outside our little circle, then I'm all for casting a wide net locally.

I mean we scouted Dylbro from Kiwiland and from all reports he wants to stay with us, this sort of thing needs to keep happening, we need a good scouting set up.

Didn't Daniel Anderson spot him?

We got Greed from the Dogs who got him from QLD and he’s back to the Dogs again, what was the moral of the story again??

Well we got 4 full seasons from him on the cheap. The first two he was solid. But in 2021 we had a guy worth 700k costing probably 300k MAX. In 2022 we got a decent player.

Point is if we are able to do this consistently we will never be backed into a corner when negotiating comes. Think Gutherson,Moses,D.Brown. If we had am Amone or Dane Laurie in the background you wouldn't have to worry as much to keep them.

Dogs get Reed. Best case they get a guy worth what they are paying him. Worse case they get a dude worth about 300k less which is quite plausible.

That's why for all the shit JA cops including by me I know we don't rate him as a club that highly. Otherwise we wouldn't be concerned about Moses leaving. Plus I know people in club amd their views on the situation. He is considered just a toiler and a potential back up. Nothing more at this point.

I think we are always doing it. We got Reed from qld, Dylan from NZ. Lebron from Qld. Let's not forget Connor Broadhurst also from qld. 🤕

I hope LeBron makes it - it would be awesome to have a player playing for the Eels named after my favourite NBA player.

Jake was re-signed because (1) he won't cost too much, and (2) if we lose Brown and/or Moses, we have a halfback who can fill in.

Smart management, imo.

Having said that, he needs to focus on developing his game for Wenty in 2023.

“Huge spread”. The language is obvious here and clearly trying to quash the suggestion that some clubs or districts are favoured.

I don’t like it. If they’re good enough for Harold Matts they should be playing for Rouse Hill or Wenty ffs

Don't see what's wrong with our juniors that they need to be "fixed". Yes, we aren't pumping out the amount that penrith are but they've only been doing that since 2020, before then no one gave 2 shits about penrith's production line. The only consistent club to do so for 10 years+ is the broncos and that's because they have half a state to pick from and every kid in those areas wants to play for the broncos.

Yes we can always improve but the whole system doesn't need an overhaul. Our biggest problem that I can see is retaining the players. Recently we've lost Mooney, Tohi, Martin, and Gabreal. 2 of those 4 were the captains of their respective Harold Matts teams, if we rated them so highly as to make them captains why didn't we have them signed up?

Grima spruiked the fact that last year was the first time in ages that the whole Harold Matts squad were from the local area, which I thought was concerning. I guarantee the Roosters and Storm are casting the net far and wide. Even Penrith recruit from NZ (Cleary, JFH), Queensland (Hopgood) and country NSW (Edwards, Yeo, Burton, Martin).

Why are we loosing them if there is so few?

Clubs like the Cowboys,Saints,Sharks,Raiders are also unearthing good kids.

Penriths been pumping them out a lot longer then since 2020.I would go back about 7yrs. Its been fairly constant since then but getting a higher flow.

They spotted Dyl by accident though. Watched an interview with him on Kayo where he said the scouts came over to watch someone else in his team (didn't mention who) and he just happened to play well enough that Parra showed interest

We haven't had a player play for QLD origin while at club since Daniel Wagon 2001.

Qld obviously isn't our local juniors but I do find it a concern we haven't been able to produce one QLD origin player in 21 years and counting.

Plenty of sydney teams have had numerous Qld origin players over the years.

I don't think you can say that Cleary was recruited from NZ, as I doubt Nathan, who was 13 at the time and only played rugby league for a couple of seasons, was the major consideration for Gus when he signed Ivan to coach the team. If we had signed Ivan Cleary instead of the Panthers for instance, then he would likely be playing here. The same would be said for every club.

Yeo and Burton are from Dubbo, which is sort of the equivalent of the Panthers second junior league, in much the same way that Roosters have taken over the Central Coast now.

For 2023 3-4? from QLD named in the SG Ball side and 1 from QLD in HM.

Anyone know what has happened to Lance Fualema?
