It sounds pretty impressive signing these juniors from interstate, NZ etc.
It appears we have set up networks far and wide.
Great stuff.

Momoisea - 3 games
Hands - 19 games
Moretti - 11 games

TBF, I don't see how Momoisea stopped these guys getting a go.

They weren't on the NRL squad when he signed or even played the first game. Yates?

I did rewatch our first few games he does have some ability that could be utilised as a backup centre as his defence isn't too bad.
I don't see him as a first grade forward even though his stats have him at 109kg

Thanks. What other pathways does the club have set up apart from coming through clubs in the junior league?

No idea to be honest most of the knowledge I get is scouring the Webs

We must have a far and wide net with that other kid I posted prior from QLD.
Lynn , LeBron AMS from QLd

See that's what annoyed me about his signing, you had Hands/Yates/Moretti available but you signed Jirah externally it doesn't really give the guys busting themselves hope they will get a go.
Momoisea was a proven performer in reserve grade, where backups play most of their footy. Hands plays very different positions to Momoisea, and Moretti doesn’t have the same lateral movement to defend out wide. Momoisea is actually a very safe defender, for a backup anyway.

More bullsh*t... clubs only have to have 29 of the top 30 contracted in early March (source). So in Round 1 it was too early to tell whether Lumelume would be in our top 30 or not.

I see everyone is missing the point I did make pretty clear though in my post..
Some of those guys did get a go though. Hands even got a top 30 contract. The others could have as well, if they were good enough. Momoisea literally didn’t get in their way.

Given how much football he played at the Cowboys I’d say he was signed as their number five outside back. For us the equivalent (this year) was someone like Dunster or Russell. Next year it’ll likely be Harper. Lumelume isn’t even top 30. We used him because it was an emergency. The fact it was round one doesn’t mean he was first choice. Injury crises can happen any time, including in the preseason.

We played Lumelume because we failed to fill our roster by March and didn't fill it to it's capacity this year.

Penrith have filled theirs for next year I think Manly has done the same.

Lumelume was also outside the top 30 and he played in round one. The top 30 rules have gone out the window.

again, we played him in round 1 because we failed in our duty to fill the squad adequately, Lume is a decent OUTSIDE 30 player...but he should never have played round 1.

it should not take 10 or 11 months to replenish our outside backs with decent depth.
