Shack doesn't play the same position as Lasalo so it's irrelevant. Lasalo is an edge forward; Shackleton isn't.

Shacks played plenty of backrow in the past and he could probably play better on the edges than Lasalo would even if he still were the size of a prop. Which apparently he isn't this year it's been reported he's slimmed down a lot as the intention was to use him as a mobile back rower this year.

I have no problem with Hindy RETIRING. but if he is given the tap on the shoulder as this paper puts it then that is farcical. Even more of a farce considering big head resigned Taniela last season. Hindy at 42 and crippled with arthritis will still be better than that nuffy. Guess you have to be one of the 'lads'.

Hindy's not an edge forward either.

Lasalo plays the same position as Reni, Horo, Paulo and Ben Smith.

Shack and Hindy are too slow to play on the edges so they don't.

Shacks might be immature in that count, but it's even more immature of SK to not select Shacks in first grade because of a personal spat when he's clearly a better player than some of the guys he is selecting.

Shack plays front row and tight forward.

That means he has Mannah, Moimoi, Allgood, Poore and Hindmarsh ahead of him at the positions he plays.

Would SK drop Hayne if Hayne was fit and acted like Shack, even if Jarryd said SK was a "&#@$!!!*&&^^%%$", etc, etc, to his face?

If he's got any balls he would.

If he didn't immediately drop Hayne and shop his contract around to other clubs he would have no respect in the place.

If Hayne then went to the board and said it's me or him, the board would have to make the call. While the coach is notionally in charge of the team, the fact is the highest profile players do have as much if not more influence over the fans (and therefore over the board).

It would be a tough decision to make but it would be the CEO's or the board's call who stayed.

I'd rather not have a player at the club who acted with such unprofessionalism, no matter how talented he was. But I reckon most fans would side with the player.

Because we're rugby league fans and we don't follow the sport for the professionalism, we watch it for the drama.

How about a coach that is out of his depth, making poor decisions with player selections and generally turning us into a laughing stock?

You're assuming that's what the players think.

Don't mistake their mentality for that of the typical whinging fan.

That's the thing. If you have a once in a lifetime player like Hayne come along can you afford not to keep him just because the coach and him don't get along. It would certainly be interesting if that situation ever developed.

It doesn't matter how much weight you lose if you don't have the explosive speed. If he had it before he came to the club he lost it with that injury in 2010.

Slimming down will help him with his lateral movement and stamina, which points to him maybe being an option at tight forward. But that's not the same position as edge forward.

Each to their own opinion but Lasalo drops off tackles at edge forward so easily Shacks must surely be able to do a better job. Even Maitua was dropping of them easily last night. Overall Shackleton is a better defender than both of them and actually wraps up players one on one. If SK persists we Lasalo or even Horo or Paulo on the edges this year we're going to concede a lot of points as they are all poor defenders one on one and attacking sides will just shift wide early knowing that.

Hindy's time is up. It's sad but true. Physically he just can't compete anymore against younger faster players. Seeing him being palmed off by Walsh was sad on Friday. Writing is on the wall for him unfortunatel.

With Hindy and the other leaving we need to be aggressive in the player market.

Shack is to busy with his TV job. He doesn't care about footy anymore.

If Roy said this then he also forgot to mention about the two types of directors,
1, the ones that work behind the scenes to undermine Daniel Anderson, etc, which destabilises the club, and
2, the ones who work hard maintaining respect, loyalty, sincerity, pride, transparency, empathy/compassion, etc, throughout all areas of Eels operations, keeping everyone together and focused on a common win-win objective.

Let it go dickflop Ando and Fitzy are gonnnnnne and will never be back.

That is worrying. If the fact the coach has no faith in the senior players and vice versa is not a good sign. You can either back the players or back the coach. I don't think SK has proven enough as a coach to be able to make such big calls. Shacks was a bit silly to post that on facebook if that's true. But he certainly should be in first grade ahead of some of these other players so perhaps a personal thing. Also a 5 year plan is too long, if a coach can't turn around things in the space of 2 years then they probably shouldn't be a first grade coach. Fans won't accept that. All in all, things aren't going well if all this is true.

Maybe what the coach sees is players who are mentally weak.

There's no quotes in the article about who is going to be let go. Kearney will make the decision and he sure as he'll ain't going to tell the telegraph about it.

Yet he seems to be replacing them with young players who are mentally and physically weak. Someone like Lasalo, who has played 20 odd consecutive games under Kearney, and a contract extension as well, have shown no signs of improvement. He made 25 less tackles and 3 less runs and less metres on Friday than a sick and 'senior' Hindy.

The clean out needs to happen, but SK shouldn't be deciding who goes because of their birth date.

Every line in that article could have been sourced from this site yesterday, yet, some of the usual suspects are panicking once again.

I put it to you that both Hindy and Lassalo are ineffective atm.
