Parramatta Eels sign Josh Papalii for 2014

I thought Papalii besides his try was pretty ordinary again, we have dodged a bullet with this bloke.

He's a gun and would have been a very good signing for us but like you I hope he does turn out to be an average footballer and we can say we dodged a bullet. We wouldn't have signed him though if that was the case and I am sure he will be a player of note in the future. Anyway there are others out there and I'm sure Stuart and Nolan are working hard to get the roster we need.

Mate i'm just going on what i have seen from him this year, then again he probably be a different player in a decent coached side. as much as this will hurt Parra Pete Furner is clueless.

What's that merkin got to do with what I said?
You clearly knew exactly what was in the contract that Papali signed to make such learned comments.

Suity

Learned comments  Just commenting on the speculative reports.

I think you're just missing the merkin and felt it necessary to add a sarcastic response to someone else instead.

The idiot has cost himself a fat contract with the Bronc's.

I can't believe some of these f**king morons still think they get paid all that money for playing football.

If they go down to the park on the weekend they will see plenty of kids playing football and not getting paid a f**king thing. That should make them realise that football in itself isn't worth any money.

The reason 'professional footballers' get paid a life time's salary in less than a decade is because they represent organisations that have a high enough profile that they can sell entertainment and advertising.

Fools like Dugan have enough mindless fans that will forgive him for anything and be prepared to pay to watch him play. However he's just found out that sponsors, advertisers and 'potential fans' (i.e. the people who aren't NRL fans yet) are all worth a lot more money than any amount of current fans. And these people care a lot more about a player's character than his footballing ability.

I wonder how much the Dragons are now prepared to put ability ahead of character.

Good on the Broncos for taking a stand. Considering how poorly they have started on the field they have really impressed me off it this year.

i don't know how many fans "he" ever had ... raiders fans, like any other team's fans supported him ,but it's probably more bias than anything

Apart from claiming that Dugan has 'found out' or learned anything then you have hit the nail on the head. You can't put brains in statues.

The competition is at round four. Raiders have won as many games as Ricky's Eels..Why would Papalli go better at the Eels....David created Josn Papalli. The 2013 Melbourne Cup winner - Puissance De Lune - is still in the paddock

Well Papali has made his bed and will have to live with it. Canberra seem to be on the slide with their players being targeted by other clubs and if we get up over the roosters we will be in the 8 and on the way up.

Snapping up Dugan may not be such a bad idea, even with the imminent arrival of Norman. Hayne at 5/8, Hopoate in the centres, Dugan at fullback, and Norman on the bench as a utility (covers most of the backs from memory). A gamble for sure, but given he wouldn't be demanding that much money - the Broncos were reportedly going to sign him for 400K per annum - it might be an educated risk? Sticky certainly likes him, and our club does have a good track record in terms of player behaviour. What do you all think? I do of course think we need to improve our forward pack first and foremost, but Dugan running off of Hayne would be....amazing.

Hey pete, what's the latest story on David Furner being sacked because he is a terrible coach? Oh wait, his dad runs the business. Bad luck champ.
