Parramatta Stadium Rebuild and other stuff

IIRC the Roosters and SCG trust only ever wanted a reno, but the Minister wants to demo SFS and build a new one ?

Yes, obviously under pressure from the trust to do so.
SFC and the Waratahs also agreed - reason being that the three major tenants didn't want to have to relocate for a full rebuild. Where would they go that wouldn't disenfranchise their supporter bases?

The minister said that the SFC has concrete cancer and is not worth spending anything on it.

That was just another excuse like the latest one.

Also, the timing for SFS was open ended bc the plan was to do Eels Stadium, then ANZ, then SFS if there was any cash left ?

That's correct. They were hoping for about $3-400 to be left out of the kitty for a renovation.
Pirtek - $3-400 million.
ANZ - $7-800 million
Allianz - the rest.

I'm still dubious about last weeks report saying the ANZ reno had doubled in estimation. Another propaganda piece I reckon to change opinions and divert funds to the East.

Sorry am I missing something? The Roosters et al want a reno instead of a new build.

So wouldn't it be cheaper than a new stadium?

You're not missing anything, or misinterpreting what I was saying.
I'm actually agreeing with you.

Sounds good, but this part of the article made me laugh. Eat my dessert - lose your teeth.

Meanwhile, Bill Mougios waited 25 years to open a spin-off to his Bay Vista Dessert Bar in Brighton Le Sands, before Parramatta charmed him into action.

"I hadn't been out there for years, but I'd been hearing a lot of things about the area. So I drove there one night and I felt like I was in another city," he says of his decision to open the new dessert bar later this month. "Yes, I have a few sweet teeth," he tells Good Food. "I've also lost half of them."

Me thinks we are going to get more home games than originally thought.

The Tigers, dragons and the Roosters could bring their home games across for huge financial benefits.

But I still can't believe Steve Sharp booked us in at ANZ for somthing like the next 5 years for two games.
Who knows how much under the table money the previous board
pocketed ?

Damn, the ghetto party promised that they weren't going to create any ghettos!

Actually, does anyone know when the ghetto is scheduled to be opened?

With house prices as they are in Canberra at the moment and interest rates set to rise I think it would be a savvy financial decision for me to get some of this ghetto action.

True.

Anb we should probably rename this thread the Parramatta Food Industry Rebuild thread... for all the relevance that overpricednew restaurants have to the stadium that our teams will be playing out of in three years time...?

Oh - are you saying that this thread should only be about the Stadium and nothing else? Great idea. Unfortunately this thread is anything but because posters on here kept changing the thread to a discussion about potential ghettos and crap like that. Not sure who that was though? Maybe you can tell me.

Sorry. Based on discussions I thought this was the ghetto thread.

My bad everyone!

How much under the table money did Sharp and co. pocket ?

They agreed to take the two biggest home games of the year to ANZ. Deal runs to 2025. One is the Easter Monday clash with the Tigers.

The bolded bit is a dangerous accusation. Good luck with that merkin.

BTW the Easter Monday crowds vs WTigers are

2014 50k
2015 35k
2016 36k
2017 29k

Especially after the Bullshit artist ran on a campaign on playing every game at Parra Stadium.

Exactly @forward pass

This thread is about all things regarding the new Western Sydney Stadium.
Part of attending events there is the complete game day experience.
Just attend a Wanderers game and see how full local restaurants are in Eat Street pre match to see what a decent thriving CBD can add to that. This is why this sort of info is relevant to the stadium upgrade.
Any improvements to that experience are certainly associated with this thread. Whether it is an increase in residential, commercial or general social activities such as god forbid - eating at a new fine dining location, or attending the new Museum, before a game, rather than the Leagues Club, or even having more hotel room options for an overnight stay, or the odd new bar to have a quiet drink at before or after, all this redevelopment can only benefit the stadium upgrade. Add the new Light Rail addition in a few years, the North Parramatta development etc..... and dare I say it, our own Parra Leagues redevelopment with hotel, and it's all looking exciting for the future Parramatta, and the future of the new stadium.

Simples.

A high percentage of off the plan buyers in Parra are from mainland China. Shit has hit the fan over there with the Gov now not allowing punters to take cash out of the country. Developers are worried about purchasers being unable to complete.

Agents are canvassing residents here trying onsell apartments. Was speaking to a major agent today.

Good for locals to pick up something cheap but can you get investor finance. APRA has made it very tough.

Wasn't that deal signed before we even know about the new Parramatta Stadium?

NO
Sharp and co. Signed the deal weeks before he resigned.

The Western Sydney Stadium had already been approved

And it was exactly the case where Sharpie was always pushing for more game at Parramatta throughout his tenure.

All of a sudden when the shit was hitting the fan and Sharp's head was on the chopping block, he signs a new deal with anz.

You work it out Gronk.
