That merkin from 2MMM is complaining again about our stadia.

IMO Homebush is the geographical middle of the city. They only need to use the train station like they did during the Olympics and have direct trains from Central, Parramatta etc rather than the stupid Lidcombe platform. IIRC there is light rail planned from Parra too.

Light Rail is nearly finished to Moore Park, so I’m not sure why he’s bitching about that location.

Maybe instead of just complaining, he should find better sites ?

Hey Dan - How is it possible to build a massive stadium in a "centrally located" part of Sydney? I'd love to hear your solution, you giberrer...

I only know of two alternative locations

1. Wentworth Park dog track, however it is inner west suburbia, so it will not be conducive to a large development with major crowds. It does have light rail and harbour access.

2. White Bay. Again close to suburbia [Balmain] but would make a great location. Light rail could be extended. Walk to casino etc across old disused bridge. Location was mooted as possible Disneyland location pre GFC.

The upwardly mobile, politically connected merkins at Balmain made a simple cruise terminal impossible. They would protest against a new stadium quicker than you could say "Old K*nt".

I love the location of Allianz. If I want to walk from central there's heaps of pubs along the way and if I want to catch the bus I go to Eddy avenue and catch a bus then walk 5 mins to the front of the stadium.

There isn't much to do before or after at ANZ but I'm only a 15 minute drive from home so I can do things there before and after.

These 2 stadiums are only difficult to get to if you live in a part of Sydney with bad public transport.

Hence the difficulty of building a new mega stadium anywhere other than wasteland. Hence why the NSW Gov plonked the Olympic precinct in the middle of Sydney on old old industrial land.

Paddo merkins can’t complain bc Moore Park has been a sporting precinct since the 1900s.

Mind boggles what these merkins actually want. There is a faction of conservatives that don’t like paying for anything. They prefer roads, rail, health, education etc to be all user pays. I wonder if private enterprise were planning these stadia renos if they would give a crap then ?

I have asked NRL hater Peter FitzSimmons a few times on Twitter if he also objects to the billions about to be spent on the Opera House and Art Gallery and he choses to keep quiet about that.

THB I reckon there is a fair bit of anti-blue collar smell around this. I bet most of the haters have never been to a rectangular stadium team sport and don’t plan to. The same pack of toffs who lobbied against the Powerhouse Museum being relocated to the west. Apparently they have got what they wanted BTW. I think Parra will be an annex to the Darling Harbour museum.

Hey @Gronk.
How do you capture and show aerial shots like you did above?

If you are using windows then just look up Snipping Tool, if you already haven't. That is the in built screen capture program by Microsoft. Very easy to use and saves you getting a third party option.
