The re-invigoration of Parra ties in with Mrs Turnbull's 30 minute city concept.

Sydney population growth necessitates three '30-minute cities', Lucy Turnbull says

Sydney cities to have 'unique identities'
Ms Turnbull said each of the three cities would have its own unique identity.

"What's so fantastic about Sydney is that there are so many different parts," she said.

"It's like a very rich mosaic, and we need to respect and understand the subtlety of that mosaic [while] at the same time supporting the creation of new services and larger services to support population."

Ms Turnbull said if planned correctly, the three cities would become "30-minute cities".

"So that people are 30 minutes from either work, school, university or whatever they like to get up to in their recreational time, so that the 30-minute city is achievable across a much wider part of metropolitan Sydney," she said.

"This makes our city more liveable, productive and sustainable for everyone."

Turnbull on Wednesday argued three cities -- Eastern Sydney Harbour, Central Parramatta River City and a Western City around the new airport at Badgerys Creek -- would be part of a "reimagining" of greater Sydney, with the population expected to grow to eight million by 2056.

Such an expansion could make it "irrefutably logical" to move Parliament from the city's east to a new central city within seven years and, if properly planned, the three cities would provide a short commute to residents' preferred school or job, the former lord mayor said.

Reminds me a bit of Gough's 1973 New Cities of Campbelltown, Camden and Appin Structure Plan...? The idea of setting up cities/hubs/CBDs in the west has been around for literally decades, but no f**ker did anything/enough about it early on, and now we're forced into building these 50 storey slimdicks into the Parramatta sky.

Fantastic article on TCT today about the Dallas Cowboys Stadium and the technology it uses to engage fans and the general layout which restricts queues and minimises fan movement. Not sure if I am aloowed to link the article but it is a bloody interesting read. I hope our stadium designers take a lot of this on board.

I hope our stadium designers visit some of these venues to see how it should be done.

How long as the Uni of Western Sydney been next to Parra Marist ?

Not sure mate, but the UWS have campuses everywhere now.
They are a large Uni.
They've almost finished a new multi story in Parramatta Town square as part of the multi-billion dollar redevelopment of that precinct.
A pretty good high rise University in the centre of the city. The first of many buildings of the redeveloped precinct around where the old library and council chambers were, behind the Town Hall.
This thread gives you an idea of what's happening there.......

A major regeneration of an area that was just awful and locked into the 60's.
No doubt, it will become a slum, according to some.

Why are they still watering the grass at the stadium? Walked past yesterday afternoon and thought it odd they would maintain the grass?
