Most teams carry 2-4 middles, and a hooker/utility. A secondrower on the bench is rare for a reason in the modern game unless they can play centre.
A big edge forward is able to play in the middle. Lane and Matterson have both done it. So has Papali'i. If they run out of puff they can have a breather.

It is being addressed within:
1) the constraints of the salary cap
2) the contractual status of existing players (i.e cannot cancel Dunsters contract just because he got injured)
3) the limitations (whether right or wrong) that the club currently has on TPA's - this is being changed I believe

Unfortunately we simply don't yet have the drawing power of the Roosters, Storm or Broncos.
I can't believe this isn't obvious to most merkins.

TPA's are unlimited and outside the cap. No TPA's for Parra is a myth. Moses has been a brand ambassador for Parra BMW for years. Any restrictions would be an infringement on a players intellectual rights.
We should make a distinction between the TPAs that benefit a given club (illegal but nearly impossible to police) and the TPAs that follow the player regardless of who he plays for.

Not as much of a breather if we're carrying a 5min halfback on the bench purely for injury cover, which you were loudly advocating for while Jake was still at the club.

Well Hands plays more minutes and makes more of a contribution to the middle defence off the bench than a back-up halfback as #17, not to be routinely used. I like the idea of a dummy half on the bench, used from 30-60th minute.

Just Pou above was arguing when forwards (edges used as middles) get tired they can have a break, when there are factors he's advocated which makes that less possible. And it's also was contrary to his postings in previous seasons about the best paid forwards needing to keep playing big minutes, regardless of if they're tired.

Won't go into the past use of our bench.

I agree with Hands plays more and makes more tackles.
Big fan of Hands on the bench he showed last night he has been working on his kicking and running game.

Lussick and Hands should be the NRL 9 & 14
Riley Smith the cup 9
Arthur the Flegg 9

kelma is not a Lane, Matto or Papalii
No, he is more powerful than Lane and Matterson, and cheaper than Papali'i, so he doesn't need to play 80 minutes.
A secondrower on the bench that needs a breather....genius
If he plays in the middle then he's not playing second row. But even if he does come off the bench to play on the edge, why not? He is a game breaker out wide. No point wasting him just because he can't play 80 minutes. We have an 80 minute hooker so we can afford to have an impact forward on the bench.

Some say he leaps tall buildings in a single bound
He's obviously got his weaknesses but at this stage of his career they will be reflected in his price. I get you want us to regret signing him, but none of us LU merkins signed him. The club did, and they have a pretty good record when it comes to recruitment, despite what the whingers say. They certainly know a lot more than a bunch of footy fans, especially Tigers fans.

Ofahengaue is one of our top forwards, which is why he didn't play in the trial. He brings experience and work rate, which is something we really needed.

Well I watched a footy game on the weekend. He ran 178m with 68 post contact, 8 tackle breaks and 1 line break. He did good. Tick.

BTW, we are veterans at this. When Moses came back, we had lots of Tigers visitors telling us he couldn’t tackle and had a pea heart. Are you on the Manly forum doing the same with Brooks ?
