We lost Jenko 3 years ago (end of 2020) and Fergo 2 years ago (end of 2021).
Opacic was the short term replacement for Jennings until Penisini was ready and he debuted in 2021 and now owns that spot with 57 FG games under his belt at 21 years of age. We already had Waqa on the other side and didn't need to recruit someone else.

Ferguson's replacement was meant to be Dunster who we all know suffered that horrific injury in the 2022 trials, and as a result Simmonson was given the wing spot and spent most of 2022 there until swapped with Blake. Blakes shit form in 2023 gave Russell the wing spot and Simmonson kept the centre position.

Sure, we lack depth in those spots but I reckon we had their replacements on the books until Dunsters injury and Blake's drop in form hurt us more than we planned for.
Fair comment, but my point is that big clubs like the Roosters see their weaknesses and act. That’s my disappointment, plain to see where the issues are and not addressed promptly. As probably the biggest club in Sydney, we don’t seem to act like it.

You claim that the roosters openly cheat the cap and get special favours from the NRL. Why then go and compare them to us?

Are there problems within the club that can be fixed? Yes. Comparisons to other clubs do not need to be made to identify the problems nor will they fix them.

My point was nothing to do with the cap, it was a club that moves quickly when a positional need is obvious. The Storm went into NZ 7s to fill a need and signed Coates from the Broncos . The deficiency in the backline is stark and don’t understand why it’s not been addressed.

Actually you don't have to cheat to exploit third party agreements.
There is no restriction on the amount a player can earn through third party agreements where he is being paid for his own intellectual property, without the need to employ club logos or names and where the company involved is neither a club sponsor nor are they acting on behalf of a club to secure the player's services ...

3rd party deals are up to the player managers to organise, not the club. A club cannot organise or guarantee third party deals. Is this reality? Probably not.

Roosters dont work within the same salary cap as us, or do they?

It is being addressed within:
1) the constraints of the salary cap
2) the contractual status of existing players (i.e cannot cancel Dunsters contract just because he got injured)
3) the limitations (whether right or wrong) that the club currently has on TPA's - this is being changed I believe

Unfortunately we simply don't yet have the drawing power of the Roosters, Storm or Broncos.

TPA's are unlimited and outside the cap. No TPA's for Parra is a myth. Moses has been a brand ambassador for Parra BMW for years. Any restrictions would be an infringement on a players intellectual rights.

My 2 cents:

All the youngsters found out what its like to play against bigger and stronger players. My only concern is that the Canberra players of similar age looked bigger and stronger. Our bous do have time on their side.

I thought Guymer did well, has a bit of Hindy (in defence) to him. Blaize was OK but has a lot to learn at fullback.

My only concerns were: Dunster is unfortunately cooked. No pace means no first grade. Cini is terrible in defence and so that is a big no to first grade. Doorey had nothing which was very disappointing given some signed he showed last year. Can he go to the next level?

Bailey is interesting, and I think someone said it earlier: Waqa Mark 2. Physically able but mentally no footy IQ. But he did show desperation to prevent a try so there is something to work with.

Harper no world beater but can do a job. Is he naturally a left or right centre?

Great game for Kelma, Greig, Russell and Hands.
