Parramatta waiting in the wings for Thurston

Earlier this year I saw Thurston play the most complete performance of any halfback in origin history. He is without doubt in the top 3 players in the world and is without doubt the best 7 on the planet. People are basing their opinion on him with rumour and innuendo. If we have a chance we should go all out and complete the greatest signing in our club's history.

Indeed if we got Thurston that would be great. I have all faith in our clubs Physical Fitness and Player Performance team that he would most probably stay fit for the duration.

But on the other hand, Thurston is a player you build a club around. I don't think that the Cowboys are going to let him go. Purely because the Cowboys can't afford to be in the weeds for to long.

Have to win us a few titles to outdo Edgey

Good captain, no doubt but as a player he is not a pimple on Thurston's arse. Thurston if we nab him will be the greatest ever signing we have made. Even better then the Canterbury 4.

Indeed.
A better comparison for our greatest ever signings would have been Thornett, or Cronin or Price.

Exactly and only 8 months older then Cronk. Could easily play for another 5 years at the highest level. Take him to age 32. The same age as Orford is now.

Suity there is a difference. Those signings were shrewd signings that ended up paying massive dividends. This is a current international halfback and arguably the best player in the world.

I was comparing them to Edge, and besides, who's to say the three I mentioned weren't the best in the world in their time? I was agreeing with you mate.

Cool. Cronin, Price and Thornett were not the best in their respective positions when we bought them. Price eventually became the best lock in the world and in my opinion the greatest Eel of them all. I think Thornett was always second to Langlands. (I could however be wrong there, Maybe Thornett was a bit before Changa, not too sure, maybe ask Fader Raider Pete)

If we signed Thurston we would have 2 of the best 3 players in the world and that would give us probably the best "spine" in the NRL (Rooster and Tigers might diagree).

BUT from all reports he will be staying in Nth Qld which would surprise anyone. Also if he did come here it wouldnt be less then 600K (which im kind of against tbh) and the Quade Cooper idea is would be no chance.

Hayne, Humble, Thurston, Mitchell --> you can all dream but it aint going to happen.

Agree 100%. Just thinking about Thurston, Hayne and Fui in the same team gives me goosebumps.

they did manage to fit them both in the same rep team, Changa played in the centres and the Mayor played fullback

Never said he was!

In terms of ability, yes. But I still see Edge as the best 'signing' we ever made (hey, it's just my opinion). Parra had never won a comp at that stage, and after the heartbreak of 77 what we needed more than anything was a leader who had been there done that, in spades. Edge was that man.

No he wasn't. Big Jack was. Hey, just my opinion. ;-)
