Cronk Morris B Morris J Suaalii Momirovski Watson Smith B

That the two Morris boys keep getting brought up in rooster salary cap whinges is laughable. 2 journeymen that no other clubs wanted at the time. B Morris replaced Ferguson and J Morris replaced Latrell, hardly upgrades wouldn't you agree?

Momo and Watson both started their careers at the roosters, I'm sure you see the irony.

Yes B Smith is a big marquee signing, our first in 5 years. Are you suggesting such signings shouldn't be allowed and he should be forced to go to a particular club?

Good point. The Roosters, much like the Stotm and more recently the Panthers and Parra, do seem to have to shed players. Just for the Storm, and again more recently the Panthers, that is to keep the players they have developed and made into stars, while for the Roosters that is to import the next shiny new toy.

You have a very poor understanding of this situation.

Let me remind you the roosters have NOT signed Haas as they publicly declared on 2 occasions that they wouldn't.

Last year we let Liu (started at the roosters and played 200+ games) go after his contract expired and this year SST (played a solitary game for the warriors before signing) will go. Their replacements are the likes of Collins, Baker, Fifita, E Butcher, Roberts, Tapuha, May and Whyte all of whom are at different stages of development within our system and have or will debut in the NRL for our club.

That's the "shiny" new toy you speak of. The only established prop we have recruited recently is Atoni who can't get a game. I'm not excluding the possibility of the roosters recruiting an established name in the position the next couple of years if it makes sense but history shows we don't do that for props. You would have to go back to Mark O'Meley and Willie Mason in 2008 for the last such signings.

On Ethan Roberts, Souths tried to poach him, you would be delighted he stayed with us?

2018 Teddy and Cronk joined

Very few sides can add half a rep spine to their side

Throw in Keary who won a comp at Souffs too
Keary... the bloke who was on the outer with souths and had no other suitors.

Latrell went the other way. Do you have an issue with that?

Bro, you do realise you don't have to respond to EVERY bad thing posted about the Roosters, don't you?

Just let 'em talk shit brother. You pointing out holes in their narrative isn't going to magically change their minds.

Someone suggested the club had made no significant signings since Tedesco. I merely listed them.

That someone was me.

If you think that the Roosters signing the Morris twins (and no one else of note since Cronk and Teddy) is “significant”, then you and I have very different definitions of the word.

On Haas.

One thing about the Roosters these days is that they have absolutely no fear factor in their pack. They totally need to go to market but Haas might be just too much $$$.

Not for the chooks ...surely,
Although other clubs might have fork out..
Don't Forget he was born in paddington, so he counts as Roosters junior.... they can claim that stuff at cut price🤣

There's no real fear factor with Haas either, he makes big metres consistently but he doesn't hurt in defense, doesn't really have an offload, doesn't really pass before the line..

Teams just gang him with 2-3 blokes and he carries them 6-7 metres post contact and that's where he gets those impressive numbers

People who don't watch broncos games just look at his stats think he is some scary enforcer.

Hasn't had a memorable origin game either.

First of all I am delighted that Ethan Roberts is staying with you. Always like when a young kid stays with his junior club, but I must admit I don’t know a lot about him. Perhaps you can provide some context of his background; how he came to be in the Roosters system etc.

But your response shows that perhaps you have a very poor understanding of what I have written. In the very post you quote I say that the Roosters do shed players; you then proceed to list a few players they have let go. You then seem to suggest them not buying any established player in the front row position (yet!) since 2008 is proof that the Roosters don’t sign players, while neglecting to mention that effectively they have bought in a representative spine over the last 5 years (as well as the ‘next big thing’ youngster who was being chased by union.

My point remains; the Roosters (like others, I mentioned a few in my post but neglected to mention the Rabbits) do lose players. But those other clubs lose them to keep what they have; the Roosters seem to go into the market (on average just under once a year over the past 5 years but we could go back further if you would like) and compete for the best players available.

And on Haas, I am sceptical of the loosely worded denial and think he will be at the Chooks over the coming years. When he re-ups with the Broncos or signs elsewhere I will provide you with an apology, but until then I am pretty convinced he will be at Bondi sometime soon.

Needs to develop an offload, he could have been dangerous last night if he could pass the ball.

Ha ha. I am of the opinion that the narrative regarding the Roosters recruitment is massively overblown, but you're having a laugh here. Plenty of clubs would have moved mountains to slot Keary into their team.

I hate the Roosters as much as every Souths fan. But that one's on us. Rusty pissed him off, Luke felt the club didn't have his back and didn't want to be here anymore.

Crichton on the other hand....

Even if you wanted to accept that Morris Brothers, Momo and Watson are big signings which they aren't look at how many players the Roosters have lost since the 2018 Grand Final win.

Latrell Mitchell, Blake Ferguson, Cooper Cronk, Jake Friend, Taukeaiho (As of next season), Boyd Cordner, Mitchell Aubusson, Isaac Liu, Dylan Napa, Zane Tetevano, Ryan Matterson and other younger/reserve players

Since then they've also lost the Morris Brothers (Replacing them with two rookies in their first proper seasons) who are apparently big stars according to poster above.

They've upgraded players along the way but to me I don't find it too hard to believe that they could afford Payne Haas and Brandon Smith after losing so many players over the past few years. Maybe I'm biased though...
