NQLD had the best half-back in the comp for 14 seasons and won 1 comp.. hardly anything to crow about & there was about 5 bottom 5 finishes mixed in there, hardly consistent.

Cooper Cronk won 6.

I believe it was 4 actually. I have a pretty good memory for these things.

I don’t know why you think any of that means that Cronk wasn’t a better halfback than JT.
Coz he wasn't, he just had better guns around him to direct... its like saying Matt Burton is better than Jerome Luai, 2 different style players, but play the same position, one has a gun side around him the other doesn't.... both are equally great, just different....
Can say the same about Nathan Cleary, Jerome Hughes and Adam Reynolds

I think Nathan Cleary and Adam Reynolds would be quality wherever they go whereas if Jerome went to a shit side he'd be crap.
And adam reynolds has proved it already this year too...addo carr not so much, but you dont get much influence being a winger... yet to see Munster take the challenge

Yes I'm technical on cheating :D

Well if you want to get technical, the 2002 Bulldogs that got docked 37 points and fined 500k just took paycuts to stay together so when they won the comp in 2004 they pretty much had the same side that got done for cheating the cap, not much difference lol

Cooper Cronk looked class and at every level he played, I don't look at Hughes and think "class"
Class means shit, getting the job done is al it takes, look at reynolds at the bronx, or hastings at the tigers, both cop a beating nothing classy or graceful about how they play, they just get shit sorted, i like Hughes too, just does his job... he must be remembering all those years in reserve grade, knowing he has it good at melbourne... love to see him halfback the titans

Pretty much is not exact, they obviously fixed their cap for that year, or it would've been stripped too, regardless how it was done, ...not that i agree with it

''Looking back at it that's why Melbourne have been punished so hard because we just got to take pay cuts and stay the same side, and two years after we won the comp,'' said Patten, reflecting on his career before his final home game for the Bulldogs, against Penrith at ANZ Stadium on Monday night.

''So we didn't really get punished that bad … I know we got kicked out of the comp and got fined but it probably should have been worse looking back.''

I didn't say it didn't happen, they were technically under the cap, coz they never received their "full" pay, if they did that, but all got given yachts each, then yeah blast away, but they took unders... its not right, and doesn't happen often now, coz most players want to earn their worth, but its technically compliant for that year

Jonathon Thurston for all the love he got at NQLD hardly had a good year. 2 Top 4 finishes in 14 years at the club.
3 GF appearances for 1 win (inaugural comp for them too) in 14 years. With 16 teams in the comp, that's an above average outcome. Who gives a rats how many top 4 finishes. I reckon JT delivered for his team over a long period. Well worth whatever they paid him.

Wasn't the 3rd when Thurston was out and Morgan had a blinder of a backend of the year? lol

2005 and 2015 are the only 2 years Thurston got them there.

Well worth it? 1 comp in 14 years is hardly worth it. Penrith will win 5 in Nathan Clearys career.

So 1 comp in 13 years at Cowboys for JT then (and 1 at Bulldogs in 3 years)?

Nathan Clearys - Debut season 2016 - 1 win in 6 years to date... 4 more in the next decade would be a fantastic yield, and put him ahead of Langer, Stuart, Cronk and possibly Pearce
