Simmons won't really make much difference. Unless we use him to upgrade our halves. DWZ to fullback, Moylan to 5/8. Otherwise we're just gaining a safe and reliable player at the expense of an inexperienced one with x-factor.

The suspension of Latimore and Segeyaro losing his father mean that Matt Moylan is our only player not to miss any game time this season. Whare has started every game, but missed nearly the entire game against Eels with a knee injury.

Every other player has missed atleast one match through injury, suspension or being granted leave for personal reasons. But at the end of the day you think of what poor James Segeyaro is going through, and you wish it was his ankle injury that had sidelined him. Even if it was for the season. I hope he doesn't feel obligated to play knowing his replacement is injured. Grieving is far more important then increasing our chances at winning.

Moylan was the only player to have played every minute of every game before the Latimore suspension and Segeyaro absence anyway, as both have been bench players for at least part of the year.

I note Latimore has been suspended for 2 weeks. I don't know whose decision this was, and hindsight is a wonderful thing, but given how crusher tackles are flavour of the month, it was a serious mistake not to take the early plea, which means he'll be out against the Warriors as well. Chances are, we lose the Warriors game, we will have to travel to Townsville for a sudden death final, rather than playing in Sydney with a second chance.

Win or lose it doesn't effect our chances at the finals. So you will be disappointed to learn that it won't put a nail in the coffin.

Come back week 1 of finals. You won't have your team distracting you so you can fully enjoy watching a team with 10+ players missing do something your full strength team was not good enough to do.

Yeah well I hoped you loved watching us in the finals 17 years straight and 6 premierships we lifted.

Sit down my friend.

Only the saddest of fans derive pleasure from the demise of other sides.

I could give a f**k less who wins if/when my side doesn't.

However, the Pennies have my support once they end my side's season next week.

I hope the past is enough to keep you happy. Personally I am more concerned about the present and future. Both are bright for the Panthers.

But I suppose the only happiness you can dream of having is remembering the glory days when you could get away with breaching the salary cap. Even while doing so now, you're not a finals contender.

Il enjoy supporting my team in the NRL Finals, NSW Cup finals and potentially even the Under 20s finals. After already making the Grand Final in the Under 16s and 18s. We are building very nicely and successful at every level. Even with a double figure list of missing players.

Latimore and Segeyaro had only missed game time through being on the bench, by the coaches wishes so I didn't consider that to count as missing game time as they were capable and able to have played, but the coach decided that was what was best for the team.

Until the last 2 weeks, they along with Moylan were the only players who could say that. Now it's just Matt Moylan.

Lol at anyone talking about favourable or unfavourable draws (uplifted from another site)...analyse this without bias. just saying

Monday Night Games
Storm – 6 (4 away)
Titans – 6 (4 away)
Cowboys – 5 (3 away)
Sharks – 5 (3 away)
Knights – 4 (3 away)
Rabbitohs – 4 (2 away)
Dragons – 4 (2 away)
Panthers – 4 (0 away)
Broncos – 2 (2 away)
Tigers – 2 (1 away)
Sea Eagles (2 (1 away)
Raiders – 2 (0 away)
Eels – 2 (0 away)
Roosters – 1 (0 away)
Bulldogs – 1 (0 away)
Warriors – 0

Call me crazy but it would be MUCH fairer to have Sydney teams playing other Sydney teams in the heavy lifting of Monday Night away games. But no… Melbourne and two single city QLD teams do the bulk of travelling.

As far as FTA appearances go, and bearing in mind the value this represents to clubs in terms of sponsorship $$$, the below details the number of FTA games each team has in 2014;

FTA Games
Broncos – 18
Bulldogs – 16
Sea Eagles – 16
Rabbitohs – 13
Tigers – 12
Roosters – 11
Dragons – 9
Eels – 9
Titans – 8
Knights – 6
Panthers – 6
Cowboys – 6
Sharks – 5
Storm – 5
Raiders – 3
Warriors – 1

The Bulldogs have done wonderfully in both avoiding Monday Night games and obtaining FTA games. Gee, I wonder how they were able to get such a free ride /sarcasm.

Whilst the broadcasters select their preferred games to air when, the fixed draw and overall scheduling is an NRL responsibility. Nine (and to less of an extent Foxtel) play a role in ensuring the draw favours certain teams. Not just in terms of sponsorship dollars either (although this is a massive benefit).

Look at the Broncos for example… Every week, for the first 10 weeks of the season, they had a Friday night game. Then, in the lead up to the finals, 6 of their last 7 games are also on a Friday night (the seventh game on a Sat)… One of the biggest challenges clubs have is managing player workload and coming up with the best ways to deal with turnaround times that are rarely the same week to week. The Broncos, for the best part of the season, can rely on a seven day turnaround consistently.

No worse than fourth going into the last round!
Suck on that Broncos2010, Rothfield and all the rest of you Penrith haters!
NSW Cup minor premiers, U20s in the 8, firsts in the top 4, 16s and 18s grand finalists, and St Doms win the GIO Trophy and St Pats in the Final of the GIO Cup. A golden year that might even get better yet!

Ergh, Phil Rothfield's constant attacks on the Panthers solely because of his dumb feud with Phil Gould is one of the most pathetic things I've seen from a so-called journalist. I would love to see the Panthers take out the comp just knowing how uncomfortable it would make him feel.
