Pet hates in gyms

Just people who are too lazy to put weights away when they're done. Seriously how hard is it?

Was shopping round for gyms during my uni break and it's stunning how different public gyms are compared to my university gym. With public gyms i noticed how seriously disorganised the weights area were. Weights thrown everywhere without any regard for order and other people. Took an age to find the weights. Compare this to my uni gym where 99.95% of the time weights were put back in their proper place. Dunno how other uni gyms are, but i'm willing to bet they'd be a lot more organised than some of the sh/t i saw around my area. Might cop some flak for this.. but it really shows how one's level of education can really have an impact..

Wow - you think education has something to do with people not being lazy?

Ever thought it is because the staff might get around before you get there and put the weights back?

Ever thought i've been in the university gym long enough to notice every single person who has used the weights put it back in their respective positions rather than trainers having to do a customer's bidding? derp

I'm not suggesting education is the one factor, i'm suggesting it may have some sort of influence in terms of being organised which may or may not translate to simply stacking everything back together . Which is why i ask the question, what are other university gyms like.

I am not trying to be discriminatory or anything, this is just an observation from my experience.

Depends on the gym. Plenty of public gyms are tidy and some are terrible. The culture of the gym matters if its a mess people will just dump plates all over the place in my experience.

I usually go in the mornings before work and what is interesting is that the morning folk are pretty tidy and put their weights back.........but for some reason it's the guys and girls at night that think that the gym fairy cleans up after them.

Had minor knee surgery a few weeks ago, stretching my hamstring out at the gym after a run, theres some lingering pain as the swelling hasn't completely gone down (and my ACL is f**ked).

Some overweight woman asks
"is there pain in your knee?"
"yeah just had surgery"
"there should *never* be pain in your knee"
"i know..it's damaged, but getting better"
"but you must be doing somethign wrong, you shouldnt have knee pain ever"
"righto, thanks..." (thinking, f**k off and mind your own business)

The only thing that annoys me is unsolicited advice. I was doing some warm ups and some guy just started telling me how people try and lift too much weight and its best to lift light.

That's fine and he was honestly only trying to help but could he be more wrong. Some lifts I go heavy some I go light. I do know what I'm doing.

The new year resolution people I find slightly vexing. Simply because they quite clearly don't know what they are doing and will burn out. I know for a fact that most of them will be gone by march.

There is so much good information available for free yet its chubby women jogging and skinny guys avoiding free weights.

Yup, got one of my best mates coming to start working out but he's renouned for all talk and no action. He's bought the clothes, getting the protein but am waiting for the excuses already. I struggled to get him around the other day to test his 1rm's and had to fight off his excuses for getting out of that. I give it a week.

My gym is in the city in Brisbane and last week it was deserted. Not today! There was not a spare space along the mirror. Guys side by side doing curls of varying styles. Luckily no one was using the squat rack and/or benches.

I've started going to a 24 hour gym and love going at times when it is deserted.

5am on a Sunday is particularly good for this, literally soulless apart from yours truly.
