You're not going to get top tier players to relocate to Port Moresby. If you don't want the club to be permanent cellar dwellers then it has to be based in a location where they can play a decent amount of the season there. I can't see the Sydney clubs wanting another team in their backyard so the next best alternative is Brisbane.

8 home and away games in Brisbane against the 4 Queensland clubs. 8 home games in Port Moresby on consecutive weekends to cut down travel. 8 away games elsewhere.

Get some decent profile Queensland players to sign and you've got a defacto 5th Queensland team, similar to how Queenslanders watch Storm games.

I don't think it is the Sydney clubs as much as the compressed market. Western Corrider of Brisbane seems the next area for a side, so having them based there is the best situation.

I don't think the Sydney clubs want a competitor taking their Pacific Islander fans. Broncos and Dolphins won't either but it's an underserviced market and they'll get the benefit on an extra game in Brisbane each year. It all depends on how the PNG club is marketed but I get the feeling that the NRL wants to push the Pasifika angle.

The other solution might be playing 4 home games on the Sunshine Coast against the Queensland clubs. Playing the Dolphins away on the Sunshine Coast too and Broncos in Brisbane and Titans on the Gold Coast. Then add in Magic Round. That still allows for 8 games in SEQ. They'll get crowds there as Sunshine Coast league fans will get to see all the Queensland teams every year.

The Feds aren't funding a defacto 5th QLD team, and PNG won't want this either.

And, what a great idea to rob PNG of all the home games against the QLD clubs, you know the teams they actually support.

And why is living in Port Moresby for 2 months straight suddenly a viable option, but not for the season??

PNG is logistically f**ked, adds Zero TV value, no game day revenue, almost no merchandise, no sponsorship, will not attract NRL talent and is dependant on a government handout that can disappear at a whim

LOL. They wouldn't be playing for two months straight in Port Moresby. Those 8 games would be spread out obviously. This is as lame as your argument that the government won't sign a contract with the NRL.

Enlighten me on what you meant then?

Cmon mate, Port Moresby is a f**king terrible idea and you know it.

No TV money
No game day revenue
No sponsorship value
No NRL quality stadium
No attraction for players

You can't enlighten a person who refuses to listen so it's pointless. You don't even understand how contracts work.

I've told you before. I've actually lived and worked in PNG for several months. I know what it's like first hand.

PNG isn't even my preferred expansion choice. It'd be 4th or 5th down my list. But the difference between you and I is that I'm not pessimistically death riding it like a one note record before the fine details are made public. You're just boring at this point. Just wait until something is formally announced before you get your knickers in a twist.

It's a forum, to insist someone stops talking about something because you don't like to read it, is childish.

No, you're just subscribing to it. As silly as those proposing it.

Honestly, you come up with some good stuff on here, unlike some of the clowns agreeing with your view on this. I respect that, but you're so far off the reservation here, it's difficult to take you seriously on this one.

The NRL haven't even mentioned Cairns, nor the Feds from what I can see.

Another possible explanation is that us NQers know far more about the current state of PNG and its culture having seen exposed to it more regularly.

They just haven't a clue, have they? Hard to reconcile them commenting on Cairns from Sydney and bagging PR for discussing Sydney public transport from Perth.

Jim 57 seems to be the only cowboys fan not deathriding it and he’s lukewarm at best

Perth red obviously is jealous

when the nrl added Penrith or Cronulla both paramatta and St George dealt with it

I actually have relatives in Cairns and spend months of the year there. Not all of have no clue but once again this set up is the news. Of course it will get discussed

Most are commenting on how it would work as it is in the news. Cows fans are carrying on like we are cheer girls for it

every time a new article comes out it’s the same whining every time
