because the incumbents offered close enough to it to make AFL happy to take the Fox/7 deal. We dont know what contra amount was in that $600mill offer.
Are you seriously asking if 10/Paramount had been given the opportunity to bid for NRl and had offered us $600mill cash and contra we would have said no and gone with the $395 Vlandys took from Fox/9?

What is the state of the Regional ch10 in this country?
How many issues has Paramount plus has with no one watching the A League?

You think $150mill a year doesnt make up for those issues? If NRl turned down a $600mill deal for a $395mill deal then we really really are in trouble with our leadership!

Paramount+ has tripled its viewers to 1.5mill in Australia, NRL would probably take it well over 2million.

Yet the AFL did, As did cricket

What is the next deal if important regional markets can't watch the game?

Yes but Paramount is looking to offload ch10 and other assets, You would notice a stack of their programs on Netflix to get some cash in

You said before $520m was TV cash. Even at your new figure at a 7 year deal.

$350m across their deal to ensure coverage across the country

You want a Perth team yet Regional WA is under different ownership and is no certainty to show NRL games...

Seriously we are comparing apples with bananas. Their running costs would be significantly higher than ours. In any case it’s fumbleball. Why spend so much time discussing such a decrepit past time?

That what people are hanging their hat on in regards to possibly NRL rights being undersold

104.5m increase in operating revenue.

".... due to a combination of improved commercial returns from Marvel Stadium and commercial partnerships, the introduction of Gather Round and contractual increases in broadcast revenue."

so about 960m + whatever grant they finished getting

I said its likely to be somewhere in the region of $520-550mill cash. Then add TV contra onto that.
You'd have rocks in your head to turn down a $540-570mill deal for a $400mill one!

Less than 10% of WA lives regionally, theres FTA streaming on the ch10 app or Kayo for those folks if other options not available. Doesnt SCA screen CH10 regionally?

As I said, If people can't get the service the rights go backwards. Ch7 was begged to take the cricket again

remember the content difference too, I doubt RL gets that without Dolphins

No SCA only does QLD, NSW and Vic well 95% of it. That deal was only just renewed it was in the air before then

SevenWest joint venture with someone handles ch10 regionally the rest, They have seperate deals.

So don't blame the sports for staying away

what? We got $15-20mill for Dolphins off ptv, depending on what you believe. In the process we potentially sacrificed hundreds of millions by extending rather than going to open market. You cant make a silk purse out of a pigs ear, and the tv deal was a stinky pigs ear if you take your Vlandys rose tinted glasses off.

What is the difference currently?

What do you think the 9th game brings in $100m a year? Given the NRLW will expand at the same time?

9th game will prob be worth around $30-40mil on its own. The real uplift will be in competitive tension. Thats why just extending without going to market was a pigs ear sht can of an idea that cost the game a small fortune.

How much was the TV deal during Covid?

The ch9 reduction was $80m but Fox too?

A new team adds 12 more games, or just over 5%. So around $20m - $25m.

No you get 9 games a round then. Keep 2 byes it is 24 games extra so you double that

Depending on how many NRLW sides they bring in to how many extra games they bring.

$50-60m would be consertive

No. The 17th team already added 12 games, as will any other team that is added. Two new teams adds 24 games, so one ads 12.

Depending on where the team is placed, the 18th team will add similar or less (if PNG) than the Dolphins added.
