hmmm well so far they keep significantly increasing their revenue, so whatever they are investing in seems to be paying dividends doesn't it?
The best player in the AFL era (1990) was Wayne Carey. A Victorian… wait no… a South Australian… wait no… certainly he was a West Australian… wait no … he was born and bred in Wagga Wagga.

Remind me again when the best NRL player came from anywhere but Queensland?

It really depends on how you are measuring it, but I think most people would argue that the best player in the NRL at the moment isn't from Queensland.

Putting aside whether or not we personally agree, most would argue that Andrew Johns is the greatest of all time as well.

1. Signed arguably the worse Tv deal in the games history against the advice of his exec team (allegedly)
Whilst I can agree that at this point that the deal he pushed through does not look great, it is definitely not the worst deal in the games history.
You weren’t around when Arthurson and Quayle basically gave the game for free to their “great mate", Packer. It's what started the TV War.
In the NRL era you were around for the Gallop years. He serviced his News masters extremely well in the low-cut deals he organised. This is a huge reason why the Commission was formed.

Words are very important in a debate. The deal he has been a part of is nowhere near the worst in the games history. It's just nowhere near what it could have been.

It shoots itself in the foot cause it thinks the future is Sydney.

With PVL at the helm, that mindset ain’t changing.

It shoots itself in the foot cause News Ltd stooges give away media rights cheap as chips for mates while AFL negotiate like professionals and bargain $500m more than NRL.

I don’t think you NSW league lackies actually understand how f**ked PVL media rights mates rates deals are.

Queensland league fans get it. Cause they aren’t f**king morons.

Victorians, SA, WA and Tasmanian AFL fans understand it. They laughing their ass about it. Trust me.

Sad that you idiots think PVL is the answer. Haven’t you nsw plebs got John Ribots number??

Broncos started Super League
Ribot started Super League there lies when RL started its decline

Also comparing it to one that includes an unknown amount of Wifi for a Stadium, That is a TBA as to whether the difference is acceptable or not

They got $500m more than NRL to invest in everything north of Riverina … Come back and revisit my post in 40 years mate.

No one in there right mind in the 70s went “you know what’s gonna be bigger than rugby Union in nsw in 2022? Aerial ping pong”.

Stop underestimating your opponent you dead shit

It’s so funny, a market like perth and Adelaide is ready for league - but PVL is jerking off about a one off game in USA as the saviour… it’s pathetic.
You know mate, clever people can do more than one thing at a time. Now off you trot to fantasise about Wayne Cary.

My point is Brisbane should have had possibly 4 clubs by now. North (Redcliffe), Ipswich (west), Firehawks (south) and Broncos (central). Plus at least NQ and GC - and possibly central qld.

That’s 6-7 clubs. At least 3 Brisbane clubs and GC and NQ.

Sharks and Wests tigers should have been assholed to make way for the Queenslander clubs to saturate the market. Cant do that cause NRL sucks at the teet of News Ltd and because the NRL is beholden to Sydney clubs.

Melbourne is nowhere near as patrichol as Sydney. I’ve never lived in a city like it. I’ve lived in Queensland, Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne. I’ve never come across so much used car salesman vibes (as a Collingwood supporter, Eddie McGuire vibes) than living in Sydney. No one gives a shit in Melbourne that there have been two CEO from SA (the biggest rival state). If a qlder was CEO of NRL all NSW press would do is gun for them from day one.

It’s quite phenomenal how far Sydney peoples heads are up their own ass and obsessed with what suburb you live in etc. They seriously think they the centre of the universe. PVL typifies this.

Look NSW guys, awesome harbour with insane views (most westies or anyone not rich never see it) but it’s now a boring city with bad transport and no party vibes. Government f**ked the joint with lock out laws.

PVL been on the board for what? Years? Like 2016 or so. When perth and Adelaide getting a team to help raise media rights? They are 30 years behind. And slagging of Perth like PVL is a disgrace. News Ltd love him. Tells ya everything

Central QLD don’t need an NRL side. Too big an area and too small a central option

Agree with the fact that you’ll need a south Brisbane side in the future and that they probably should have been put in prior to the Dolphins.

7 sides in Queensland (which would be too much) would limit growth potential in other areas and would be repeating what you say was done to Sydney which is a strange argument to run and undercuts the consistency of your argument

Lol the old 40 year plan.
when the gnats started it was a 10-20 year plan .
same tripe
they gunna take over in 10-20.
lol how are they going….crowds are terrible …the one measure you fumblers beat your chest about continuously .
has it occurred to you that those not raised in the backwater states just don’t like fumbleball.
& when a sport has to lie so much about their popularity in the non brainwashed states then you know things are nowhere near as good as they make out.
do yourself a favour & read the LAWSON report .
was done a while ago but Pro Lawson highlighted the absolute bullshit put out by AFL house ..
sadly another report was never commissioned & Lawson was put on the payroll of the Afl…lol never to say anything negative again .

sadly people like you swallow every bit of propaganda as gospel.
but you’re not the first & wont be the last to nod at everything that comes out of the afl propaganda ministry .

400 year plan

it’s cute how a sport which claims it’s national refers to a majority of the country as foreign or non afl markets

Revisit this in 30 years mate haha why would any kid want to live and play in Newcastle for a shit club - if a swans academy is willing to pay their way and they get to live in Bondi etc… You keep thinking small time, just like old Beta PVL… AFL will keep thinking big picture.

The funniest thing, private schools play union. They go on to be in Sydney’s corporate elite. Guess what they’d rather give their corporate dollars to or have their kid play??? NRL or AFL???

Considering AFL already has the private schools in Tas, Vic, SA and WA - plus all the corporate support that goes with it - who you reckon Sydney’s private school alum wanna see thrive? A peasants game? Or a game they can use to strengthen their own interests via private school connections etc in other states?

Keep suckling at PVL’s teet though…

From a person who actually lives in Newcastle it is very very unlikely that this is going to happen or that the area is ripe for the picking as you say.

For a comparison, it would be like me arguing that if the shoe was on the other foot and the NRL had a lot more money than fumbleball that they could just throw money at an area like Geelong and they are going to all just stop playing fumbleball and play league. You wouldn’t logically argue this. The best that fumbleball could ever do here would be to become a niche sport.

Also, there is too much about junior participation. The threat of fumbleball is picking up the supreme athletes or the ones who could play any sport and be good. There is a vast majority from both sides of the fence that just don’t have the athletic build to play the other - you are never going to see 110kg plus bloke play fumbleball nor are you going to see many 80kg (ringing wet) blokes play NRL.

The plan is for the 2033 World Cup to be in USA, That is far more pie in the sky then a single NRL game moving to USA
If super league hadn’t killed off the Wolfpack it would be fine

it killed off the new york and the other Canadian team

"METRICON Stadium will have a new name by the end of the year with the Gold Coast Suns losing two long-time sponsors on agreements worth millions of dollars"

Oh dear ! Looks like even more bail-out money required from fumbleball house. Add that to the $200m already pissed up the wall.

There was the other recent report that showed afl ranked last in junior numbers out of all sports in western Sydney

imagine spending tens of millions building those stupid afl posts everywhere and nobody is using them except the seagulls to poop on them

As I said

Rugby Leagues biggest threat is itself, It makes some great decisions. Only to follow it up with some bone head stuff which moves it back even further
