Thats Leagues Club profits

What about Football Club?
The fc made $100k less revenue in 2023 compared to 2022.
its not even profit for the LC, $17mill of it is a cap ex grant from govt,
nrl gave them $19.1mill! up $3.6mill on 2022 grant.

Its an interesting strategy and one that will either pay off or wont. Locking into 9 years of a higher tv deal whilst we are locked into 5 years of substantially less may pay off for us in long run IF there is massive competition for rights come 2028, or for some other reason sports rights become more valuable.
It could just as easily go the other way of course with a downturn in sports rights for numerous reasons. Its a gamble and one we wont know either way for a few years yet.

Fools rush in where angels fear to tread, or A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush?

Inflation killed that afl deal

they would’ve expected the historical 3 percent not 8 percent

100% If inflation is still high going into next NRL deal, the AFL going early will come back to haunt them.

I would argue that inflation has made that 9 year deal irrelevant (mid), only time will tell.

It is hard because it hasn't started but even the basic 15% taken away from the figure doesn't look good

That's the risk of going early and long. But NRL cocked up worse with covid concessions and extension (so we're in no position to piss on AFL)

Five prevent unexpected inflation over say 6 years means their deal is 30 worse off

they had to offer such a long deal otherwise the dollars on offer were probably going down

inflation is like running downhill it will be easier for pvl to get much bigger annual increases

Can you please explain why you often post an image of the Lions coach? What is the reference?
Perth Red is an obvious afl fan boy who has a rugby league bad afl good agenda that he shows at all times. He is in denial about Chris Fagan’s racism scandal which the AFL hid under the rug for years. Whenever he goes on his bullshit I remind him of it.

Aren't you the guy who was a Broncos and QLD fan until they started losing and switched to supporting the Roosters and NSW.

I believe the grant is in relation to the $55m COE , will be a nice asset for the club once completed. The revenue was down due to the draw as a number of commercial partners ( myself included) chose not to renew last year because of the Thursday and Friday night allocation of games which the club and the NRL have worked on this year. Also not having a successful season impacted the bottom line I’m sure.

Who owns the coe? Eels or govt? I heard the eels are renting part of it out too for commercial use
