lol there used to be a time around here that the only ones who thought that Hughes was a decent cricketer and deserved to be persevered with after only one decent series was NSW supporters. Everyone else knew he was utter rubbish and said so many many times only to be proven right with his failure upon failure upon failure. We said he was technically flawed which was blatantly obvious to anyone who knows even the smallest thing about the game but no, he was going to be our savior....

The penny finally dropped with even the most ardent Blues fans and as much as they tried they just couldn't defend his shitness for any longer. It's no surprise that you're the only f**kwit that thinks he's capable of holding a place in this team
All I want is one series in his natural position. It was unfair to play him in the middle order when he is not a middle order batsman. Most openers struggle against spin early in their innings.

There is a reason why some batsmen are openers and some are middle order.

And anyone arguing that he hasn't improved his technique since 2011 is f**ked in the head. Look at his averages against fast bowling in the 9 tests he played in his comeback. World class. Way better than his last stint in the team.

Not if he opens like he should. But don't worry, he won't be back. The selectors are too stupid to pick him.

And then when he fails as a opener, you'll complain that he should be batting at 3, and when he fails at 3, you'll complain that he should be at 4 and then eventually back in the middle order.

He's useless, I'd go as far as to rate Marcus North higher than him.

I'm on record saying if he was guaranteed one entire series as opener and averaged less than 40 for it, I would never ever suggest he gets picked again no matter the circumstances.

All I want is to see him get a chance to use his improved technique in his real position. His numbers against fast bowling suggests he would be the ideal man to combat the new ball.

If Hughes and Rogers were opening I reckon we would lose very very very few wickets in the first hour. The damage the new ball did to us would be greatly limited which would set the foundation for us getting big totals.

One series in his real position. That is not an unreasonable ask. If he failed there I would be the first to say we should give up on him as a test cricketer. And I would forever shoosh about my pro-Hughes opinions.

You would never do that.

You should go and tell this to the selectors. Knowing them they'd probably listen to you.

Confirmed: Phil Hughes to bat at #3. I expect him to succeed in this series, make this crucial spot his own and be our #3 for the next decade as he scores 10,000 runs and 30 test centuries. Mark my words.

This thread has become the ramblings of a mental patient with a sick fetish for HAH..

And the rest of us winding him up..

He has a weakness against pace.
No he doesn't. Look at his averages since his comeback. He averages 50+ against fast bowling.

And he wouldn't be getting out to spin bowling anywhere near as easily if he was opening.

Those are facts. That is the bottom line.

Imagine Hughes in the era when India would field 4 specialist spinners on massive turners? Would he average above 5?

Seriously bunniesderp, if you can't play one form of bowling at that level, to the horrifically poor level that Hughes can't, you're not an international quality bat. And it will only be a matter of time before the quicks get a strategy that rips you apart as well.

Yeah like when he got caught behind off Bresnan for one at Lords. He really stuck it to the pacemen that day.
And that's his only dismissal against quicks for ages. He averaged something like 60 against quicks in the first two tests. He is the best opener Australia has.

Plenty of top class openers would struggle if they got shoved into the middle order. If he got to open it would be very different.

The guy is nothing but a wimp not to mention his weakness against pace. He bats like a girl.

Quick question..

If you got HAH to come over to your place, how long would it take for it to degenerate into a "it puts the lotion on it's skin, or it get's the hose again" situation??..

I'm tipping you'd have the Rohypnols out in the first coffee..
