Little justification for dropping Hughes? He's scored 3 runs in his last 3 test innings, even if you go back to the 4th innings he's averaging 20 lol

His career average is 34 lol

Kiwi military medium pace had him dazed and confused, that should have been his Greg Blewett moment right there

He would have been Greg Blewett's bunny too ;-)

What this dopey moron can't see is 2 things.
Firstly most posters on here wound like to see Hughes have some success, he's an Aussie and if he was scoring runs and helping us put respectable performances in we'd be cheering him. I can't stand Matthew Hayden, yet when the big ugly knob was smashing them around I was happy because he was contributing. Hughes has done nothing yet this Bunniesgimp keeps sucking his schlong. Pathetic.

Secondly, after you fail with your first chance the selectors are going to be less lenient on your second, third, fourth and fifth chances. They gave Hughes more than a fair to on his second chance yet he kept getting out exactly the same way. He didn't take his opportunity and didn't learn from his mistakes. f**k off Phil. On his third chance the selectors admitted to protecting him from the best pace attack in the world. And he again didn't take his chance, 80 against that Sri Lankan attack doesn't cut it, he needed to score a decisive hundred and he didn't. Then He went to India and England and showed he was clueless against spin.

Hughes has huge issues with his game that will not be sorted out in the test arena. Any side with a smart pace bowler or a spinner of any class will f**k him over.

Thirdly, bunniesman is a c**k gobbling gimp who should have been shot through the chin at birth.

Noone can argue he still has a persistent problem with quicks. He is averaging in the high 50s against them in his most recent Test stint.

And he scored runs in 3 of his last 4 tests while facing top class spinners.

He got dropped for ONE bad test.

Where are the stats to prove this? Please show this breakdown of runs against different types of bowlers, all I see is a lot of ducks and scores below 10 peppered with the very odd high score.
His scores since Sri Lanka series.
86,16,10,87,6,0,19,0,2,69,45,6,81*,0,1,1. 423 runs at 30.21. Take out the pissant SL attack 224 runs at 22.4. Just for you I'll take out the spin dominated Indian attack 282 runs at 40.28. In conclusion shit.

And he scored runs in 3 of his last 4 tests while facing top class spinners.
He scored a few runs in India when the series was gone. No hundreds.

He got dropped for ONE bad test.
When he needed to step up he scored 1 and 1. That's an average of 1 when his team needed him.

He scored 83 in 4 innings against one of the two best pace attacks in the world with a world class spinner who got him out in 2 of the 3 dismissals, both were LBW from memory too and like he did against South Africa in 4 innings he pulled an 80 out of his arse and did nothing in the other 3 innings

Combine his last 4 matches against England and South Africa he averages about 25 lol

First time he was dropped was harsh IMO but you can't hide from the fact that the guy has had more opportunities to solidify his spot in the team than many others did when we were actually a good team and he hasn't taken them. If we were remotely decent in the batting stocks he would be gone forever.

Michael Bevan had a couple of ridiculous seasons in the early 2000's in the Shield, he averaged 100 for one season with about 10 centuries and couldn't even get his name discussed for a recall. Hughes has never come close to that sort of production and yet he still gets chance after chance.

Spot on. The first time he was dropped was to keep that hack Johnson in the side but after that every time he has been dropped has been justified.

Guess what. He's not competing with Waugh and Hayden and Langer and Ponting. He's competing with the likes of Warner and Cowan and Khawaja and Watson.

Blokes who average 30 odd in Tests, not 50 odd.

If he was around 10 years earlier he wouldn't be near the test team. No batsman of today would except maybe Clarke.

But he is around now. He is one of our best 6.

I don't think many are arguing that Australia is better than England.

Of course for now we're below them.

But Phil Hughes is still one of the best 6 batsmen Australia has. And IMO the best opener if Katich isn't available for selection.

Selectors had enough of him, they gave him a leg up by not playing him vs south Africa cause he would have got smashed, then playing him vs a 2nd rate SL attack. In return Hughes has failed to deliver when we needed against top sides

Hughes needs to know his limitations and work with it. There are a lot of deficiencies in his game but he needs to know what he can and can't do and just work with his strengths. That anchor type of innings he played in the recent ODI is not his style of game.

I know this forum has descended into irrational hatred of Hughes by trolls only doing it because I'm a fan. But the following is a outstanding article showing how little justification there has been for dropping Hughes each and every time. And it shows a range of opinions from a number of people much smarter than me:

http://www.theguardian.com/sport/a-...shes-australian-selectors-dropped-phil-hughes

Hughes has not been given a fair go because at times he looks ugly. While other less deserving players who have produced less by every conceivable measure get more opportunity because they are "sexier".

Each and every time he has been dropped has been unjustified. The selectors simply must have him walking out to bat as opener on the morning of the first Ashes test.

Steve Waugh and Ricky Ponting both agree with me.

I don't dislike Hughes because you rate him, genius. I want him out because he's f**ken hopeless.

You're just a f**ken nobody with shithouse, undeducated, spoon fed opinions on everything. You flying his flag doesnt make me any less certain that he is utter garbage and a waste of time persevering with.

That's EXACTLY what Hughes averages you absolute invalid gronk.

He's not competing with Steve Waugh, thanks for the heads up you nuffy I still thought this is 1998 until you saved me.

PJHAH ODI career. A good start but then the usual pattern - bowlers work out his weaknesses and captain's toss the spinner the ball.

112,3,3,1,138,21,86,23,29,30,0,13,2,47,83,22,11,13

Average: 37.47 Since his first 5 innings against Sri Lanka: 25.61

S/R: 74.76.

This series: 176 runs at 35.20.

Time to go.

Needs to kill it in the shield games he plays this year, then he could be on the south African tour if he does that, even possibly a late ashes test (provided our openers fail miserably)
