Chris Rogers average 38.14
Phail Hughes average 32.65
So 5 and a half runs per innings difference despite Rogers having (basically) 1 uninterrupted run in his natural position. While Hughes has been in and out and in and out while up and down the order.

When you allow for that Hughes average is superior.

Do you know how averages work?

Hughes has been in and out because he has failed on many occasions. He has been up and down the order as he can't nail down a position!

Rogers was our most consistent bat in the back to back ashes his under no threat. Doolan batted well in SA and was very unlucky not to score a ton. Clarke, Smith and Warner have been outstanding the last 12 months so the only real opening is at six and Watson will have that place. In the event Watson is injured Faulkner seems the logical choice. Hughes may be handy as a back up but is time to prove himself a test match cricketer has come and gone.

Darren Lehmann has said it is a matter of WHEN not IF he gets back in the test team. And when he gets back in he'll be given a real go and not the chopping and changing like in the old days. The "100 test" remark from Clarke was no accident. Lehmann and Clarke are on the same page. Hughes is a part of their plans. It's just a matter of whether they wait for Rogers to retire or nudge him aside.

Seems Boof has no confidence in Hughes what so ever and who can blame him the guys had several decent runs in the team and failed everytime.

Based on that theory, cause he has been in and out of the test side a heck of a lot (due to injuries) we can conclude Shane Watson is a superior bat to Sir Donald Bradman

If Don Bradman averaged 41.7 then that would be comparable to the Hughes-Rogers comparison.
