I think this is a great game, but Witcher 3 leaves it for dead in terms of gameplay and its world imo.

Much has been said about Fallout 4's improved gunplay, but it hasn't really improved much at all since New Vegas imo.

I'm going to disagree about The Witcher 3's world. You got a farm with nothing there, to a hill with nothing there, to a forest with nothing there, to a village with nothing there. It's vast without being deep.

With Fallout 4, i challenge anyone to find a boring spot. You go north into the forest thinking it'll be a fun time, and there are chem labs and radio towers and sniper roosts and radioactive dump sites and so much unique stuff to find. In the Witcher i ran for 15 minutes through the wilderness desperately looking for something to do, and there was emptiness. The emptiness was very pretty, don't get me wrong, but it's still emptiness.

Also going to disagree with the New Vegas comparison. Have you gone back and played New Vegas since tackling Fallout 4? I played it the other week, and Fallout 4 shits all over over it. The gunplay has been tightened to at least Far Cry levels.

I should elaborate, I did the .ini controls fix after I found a thread on reddit, but just the keyboard buttons for everything is a hassle.

Pressing Enter any more than once in a game is so unnatural to anyone whos played a game on PC, but when you have to do it over and over again depending on the situation (base building) it becomes tedious to let go of the mouse and do it.

There are other examples but I need to get some time to play again to remember!

Oh yeah, the base building is janky as f**k. E works instead of Enter, for the future.

No way to get around using the arrow keys though. If the player has to remove their hand from the wasd position, you've f**ked up.

I suppose the forests and farms do feel empty in Witcher 3.

I read several reviews about how tight the gunplay was - that shots lined up manually would actually land where they are supposed to, etc. - but I actually don't agree with that sentiment at all.

I emptied an entire clip of a pistol into a tripped over ghoul's head, and (despite being at point blank range), I missed every shot.

I am enjoying this game, but imo, Witcher 3 is a superior game because if its gameplay.

I mean, this is a Bethesda game, after all - so, fun as it is, it's compounded by glitches.

Although Witcher 3 was not without fault...

Yeah, I felt the same about The Witcher. I loved the gameplay and the world looked amazing, but it wasn't a world I felt particularly close with. I felt apart and above it, rather than immersed in it.

It doesn't help that you're being forced to play the role of Geralt, which kind of makes it hard to mesh with your own personality.

Oddly enough, once I equipped her once, she started auto-equipping weapons. I was in a big firefight with some Super Mutants and then Piper just burst in with a f**king mini-gun and mowed everybody down.

I honestly don't know where she got it, as I'd never given her one to carry.

That was a pretty f**king amazing scene. I remember being totally blown away by it as well.

But Geralt pwns!

Anyway - this game can be pretty stressful.

I find myself trying to get to a new mission marker, and getting obliterated by Super Mutants on a regular basis.

I just played through Falloit 3 a couple weeks ago. Don't see why you'd say it is better. Combat is clunkier, the world doesn't feel particularly alive, the colour palette is too drained, and there isn't a single character with any depth that isn't imparted by Liam Neeson's voice.

Fallout 4 is awesome. I have approx 40 hours of gameplay under my belt...and I have yet to enter Diamond City lol. So much shit to do.

I am over the settlements, it seems to be a major waste of time. Should I just sell that junk for caps or just store it in the settlements, what do you guys recommend? I try not to read anything about Fallout 4 online, as it is usually riddled with spoilers, a few posts here but overall everyone has been good.

Dont care about voice acting, i play with subtitles on and sound down. Story doesnt interest me as much as simply exploring the world, and for me i much prefer the world they built for 3. Still enjoying 4 for what it is but more looking forward to DLC and mods.

I think you misunderstood me. I wasn't saying the voice acting was better/worse, I was saying that none of the characters in Fallout 3 meant much to me. The sole exception was 'Dad', and that's just because he had Liam Neeson lending him some gravity.

Any particular level I should tackle the Castle with? I'm currently level 11 or 12, but don't want to get f**ked over/

I was level 11, and it was f**king tough.

Best advice is to use the top of The Castle and duck inside when you need to reload and get health.

It'll take time, but you'll get her.

Is it me, or is this gane harder than New Vegas?

It seems every time I try to do a new mission , I get royally f**ked up - case in point, helping out the trapped police officers, the ghouls f**k me up in no time.

Early game is the worst. Trying to get by on pipe pistols and tyre irons. Once you get to a certain point in terms of weaponry it becomes very easy.

I just found my first plasma rifle and immediately converted it into a sniper rifle by throwing on a scope and longer barrell. Does something like 240 combined damage. Plasma weapons in Fallout have always been a bit OP imo...

Between Boomstick 3.0, my heavily modded plasma sniper rifle, and my kick-ass silenced 10mm, I'm set.

Toss in a Fat Boy (the Enola Gay) and a shit-tonne of grenades, and I'm a mother-f**king sorcerer.

Don't get me wrong, mate - I'm really enjoying it.

But I find I'm getting destroyed rather easily by feral ghouls when helping the Brotherhood, and sometimes all I want to do is traverse the map and I stumble upon some Super Mutants that kill me easily.

I don't recall New Vegas being this tough this early on.

But this is certainly a tonne of fun.

I certainly remember New Vegas being a tough introduction. I have strong memories of being massacred by Deathclaws and Super Mutants if I veered too far out of the kindergarten areas.

Huh.

I recall New Vegas being much easier.

But this is still a lot of fun.

Could be difficulty levels. I think I played New Vegas on a higher one than I am playing Fallout 4 on.

I was fresh of Fallout 3 and feeling cocky.

Deathclaws were ridiculous on New Vegas. Apart from that I don't think there's much difference in difficulty between the two games.
