Five hours down. Loving the crafting and the world.

Not a huge fan of building settlements.

You can buy rad-away off of most doctors, although it's fairly expensive to buy in bulk, those same doctors will generally also cure you of any rads for 40 caps.

It can also be crafted at a chemist station if you have the right materials with you.

Other than that, I tend to find a lot of rad-away on feral ghouls, which seems kind of ironic.

It's well worth getting the Medic perk, which increases effectiveness of stimpaks and rad-away, which means you can use them more sparingly.

Yeah think I might just go on a hunt for items to craft them. Don't really want to spend caps on Rad Away and Doctors

So just had my first run in with a suicide bomber carrying a nuclear warhead. :/

My new favourite feature is the quicksave..

Anyone else feel like they sucked the humour and character out of the game? Where are the vaults shenanigans and interesting locations to discover? Seems like they swapped them out for settlements to plant carrots and build wooden shacks. Where are the characters with personality? Everyone i've met is boringly non-descript and i skip through most of the dialogue. The story in 3 wasnt grand but at least there was some sense of imperative and progress. Here its like your main objective is an afterthought mapped to a button in the dialogue wheel. Have they saved all of the best bits for the DLC?

And another thing, minor spoilers i guess, but i went through and cleared out the Arcjet facility before meeting the Brotherhood, then i go there on a mission and the interior has changed or can access parts i couldnt before or something? That really annoyed me.

Can't say I've felt that at all. While I do agree settlements are a little bland, I've found multiple interesting and engaging characters.

I'm travelling with Piper and am enjoying the banter between her and my similarly idealistic character. Strong and Rex were both amusing characters, and I love the character of Nick Valentine.

The NPCs in towns tend to have a decent amount of personality too. The Russian brothers, the racist shop owner, the corrupt mayor...

VATS to the arm?

I literally got to level 17 before I realized VATS was still in the game. When it didn't come up when I hit 'V', I worried they'd removed it.

I just backpedal like a bastard and unload my modded pistol clip into their heads. Works a treat.

I find settlement building really half arsed, like they just tacked it on. The overall game is very fun though, and like every bethesda game it will only get better with mods

What's disappointing about settlement building is there's a limit to how much you can build. I've decked out the castle top to bottom slowly adding shops and things as new settlers enter the place only to see that there's nothing more I can build without taking things away. Other than that, I actually think the base building aspect is quite fun and addictive. I just want to see a pack of ghouls or something try and come in through the entrance of my main settlement only to be greeted by 8 heavy machine gun turrets...

Also, I think the random settlement attacks are too rare. Playing about 35 hours now and I've had to defend a base just once.

Do you get a message that so and so settlement is under attack while you are elsewhere or does it only happen while you are in the settlement?

I get the message and it's like a quest. Help defend this or that settlement. The only random encounter i've had whilst at a settlement is when a raider or two showed up. It was a bit meh...
