Post covid it’s a new ballgame

wonder why Penrith made four straight gf in a canter ?

didn’t have to cheat the cap either
Hows wests, dragons and bulldogs going with their major Jnr catchment areas? Its almost like success is much more complicated a formula than just numbers of kids playing in your local area lol

its interesting reading comments on reddit about NRL expansion. Almost everyone on the NRL Reddit thinks PNG is a joke bid lol it's also a much bigger community than LU is these days.

Most people here agree. The only ones supporting it are the ones with some weird belief that they must defend PVL no matter what.

Dogs juniors are winning comps

their future is decent.

tigers have had loads of good players they just don’t keep them

even the chooks are investing more in juniors they’ve seen the way the game is going
So you're agreeing with me then? Its far more complicated than just jnr numbers in a local region. sweet. Ive been hearing about the demise of Melbourne from NSW folk since 2017 when Cronk left lol

There isn’t 1 shred of evidence to support that.
Why don't we just spend the money on junior development?

there’s another article posted previously about what’s going on with their junior pathways right now

Cairns seems pretty nice

nicer than Melbourne or a five hour plane from Perth back to civilisation
I'd rather live in Perth or Melbourne by a long way. There's not much in Cairns but incredible heat and tropical rain half the year, actually a lot of crime too.
You're going to be training in 30 degrees all year long.

Wow 12 hour flight from Perth to png

good luck with that

Even six hours from melb to png is a stretch
Which totally ignores the recruitment deterrent of players being asked to fly EVERY weekend for games, with international flights 12 times a year just to play 'home' games.

Or this

Mr Hill said the bid to become the 18th NRL team would be largely based off creating a similarly successful pathways program to utilise the young rugby league players in PNG.

“The primary focus was to look at pathway and development structures because that will underpin all our work. We want to make sure our foundations are right,” he said, according to the Daily Telegraph.

“The first step of the bid team is focusing on 14 to 20-year-olds in PNG.

“A good part of our trip was understanding how Penrith develop their junior players both at Penrith and in regional areas. When you look at what we will be doing in PNG and potentially the Pacific Islands, we need to have a regional academy model.”
