I dont buy the no players bit. Its a real chicken and egg argument. Reality is without that top grade side and the pathways underneath it in place you wont get a stronger player pool just sitting around hoping one day to get an NRL contract.

We've barely scratched the surface of player development in NZ, PI, UK, France, poaching Union around the world etc etc.
NRL is finally getting itself in a position where it can be the #1 choice financially and profile wise to attract players from Union and overseas to play here. Player talent isnt the problem, investment in pathways and development systems are.

Look at Penrith. The'yve had the biggest jnr participation region since forever but only in last ten years have they actually got serious about investing in pathways and look what it has reaped.

PNG player development yes. PNG NRL club, hmmmm thats a lot less uncertain
along with PI development, NZ development, WA development, Vic development, actually getting the game restarted in Tas and SA, NT development, regional NSw and Qlnd development. Players wouldnt be a problem for 20 clubs if the ARLC was doing its job properly and not slashing grassroots funding.

There's 14 other clubs in QLD cup, 1 PNG club is not worth the effort to the 3 qld clubs that should be looking, but the storm are pretty good scouters, not many NRL clubs bother to venture out of their supposed catchments, storm will recruit anyone from anywhere, not many clubs are like them, good on them

Olam got spotted coz he was playing for the Kumuls, not coz of his one year at the hunters, he was a digicel cup player, he played more for the falcons than he did for the hunters

Mate clubs are VERY lazy, like i said they generally dont leave their doorstep that often, best they do is look at everybodys backyard for ready made 1st grade talent, there is bugger all developing from reserves with the bulk of these teams, like i said i admire the storm, and the teams that search for the gems

Because PNG looks set to be in, as dumb as it is. If there wasnt Govt money being thrown at the stupid idea then Id be all for Adelaide Bears instead. Anything other than another Qlnd club

also Perth red, wa govt agreed to invest 5 million in juniors over ten years and 20 million on a coe. Look Perth must get a side now

Isn’t that an argument for png brisbane 3 and nz2 ahead of Perth so they can develop pathways so clubs like storm and a Perth side can also benefit
