I'd rather live in Perth or Melbourne by a long way. There's not much in Cairns but incredible heat and tropical rain half the year, actually a lot of crime too.
You're going to be training in 30 degrees all year long.
So would 2.1million and 5million people respectively lol

You aren’t a kid from png whose family is 13 hours away
Which totally ignores the recruitment deterrent of players being asked to fly EVERY weekend for games, with international flights 12 times a year just to play 'home' games.
they will be a 90 minute flight from family and friends de

I'm so not excited for a team in PNG .
Id actually love it if it could work for the long term. It would be great to see them grow and the game days will be nuts to watch on TV. Also gives Int RL a leg up which is never a bad thing despite the little value we put on the Int game.

I just dont see how it can work and the very fact that without the Aus Govt dangling a very large carrot in front of vlandys we wouldnt even be dreaming of considering it tells us what we need to know about hopes for long term viability of the club, and the value overall to the NRL longer term.

I'd love a PNG team after we've invested in growing the talent for 20 years and see actually talent as a result, and 20 years of at least 1 fixture held there with success each year, enough support from businesses there that don't need government support.
The n a bucket load of cash from government.

You're jealous of every bid that gets a licence before Perth. You sit behind your computer/phone and death ride everyone because you cannot stand the fact Perth is an irrelevant fumbleball wasteland.

That’d be great expansion plan. As long as it’s not yet another brisbane club wasting a license.

If it's so great then why have you been advocating Perth, NZ2 and Adelaide Bears (in that order)?

Perth will never be an RL city. It'll never produce the same calibre of player as Queensland and NSW. It'll always rely on resources generated by the rugby league community in Brisbane and Sydney.

What happened to Adelaide and Perth, you know the whole "Politis knows"???
Because PNG looks set to be in, as dumb as it is. If there wasnt Govt money being thrown at the stupid idea then Id be all for Adelaide Bears instead. Anything other than another Qlnd club

If there wasn't a Png/Pasifika bid then another QLD team would probably to get in first anyway, where on earth would you get your competitive players from?

I dont buy the no players bit. Its a real chicken and egg argument. Reality is without that top grade side and the pathways underneath it in place you wont get a stronger player pool just sitting around hoping one day to get an NRL contract.

We've barely scratched the surface of player development in NZ, PI, UK, France, poaching Union around the world etc etc.
NRL is finally getting itself in a position where it can be the #1 choice financially and profile wise to attract players from Union and overseas to play here. Player talent isnt the problem, investment in pathways and development systems are.

Look at Penrith. The'yve had the biggest jnr participation region since forever but only in last ten years have they actually got serious about investing in pathways and look what it has reaped.

Where is PNG getting them from? They have produced all of 1 NRL player to date.
